org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.ENABLE_CLEAR_REFERENCES=true (the
default) is provided to work around memory leak issues in applications and
third party libraries. While well written code shouldn't need it, experience
has shown that it fixes more issues than it creates - hence the default.

The down side of this feature is that it can cause issues since it nulls out
various internal fields and code may well react badly to this.

It should be safe to set this to false providing your app and the libraries you
use don't leak memory. You can always check this with a profiler.

Hello Giannini,

   Not all people are allowed to commit changes themselves. If you see some
better way of doing some feature, then propose the same here. If it gets
accepted, you can even take it further by coding it and creating a patch.
This patch can be submitted to owners who will commit it or not depending
how correct your solution is. ;)

patch proposal

This patch is useful when you want handle keystore password from external class. 
To do this, I added two additional parameters (in Connector tag of server.xml) to call external method and
get Password String.

- Parameter keystorePassHandler (in form some.package.Class.methodToInvoke)
- Parameter truststorePassHandler (in form some.package.Class.methodToInvoke) 

obviously, if not present,  keystorePass and truststorePass parameters are used.

Example:
using external attached passConsole.jar to enter password from console 
add attribute to Connector tag of server.xml

If new attributes are presents,keystorePass and truststorePass are ignored.
