Kannada Wikipedia event [Fwd]

Snehitare,

Kannada Wikipedia - the online encyclopedia in Kannada has been
there on the internet for almost 2 years now. Many folks know about
it, some of us contribute to the project regularly.

But many Kannadigas do not yet know about this wonderful
project - some of them have had problems with enabling Unicode on
their machine; many of them need help editing the wiki. To be of
assistance to all these people and to spread the word across about
Kannada Wikipedia, we're holding a unique event on Sunday, April 2nd,
2006, at Nayana Auditorium, J C Road at 4 PM.

Find out more about the event at:
 http://kn.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:PM

We invite all Kannadigas who take interest in seeing their
wonderful language grow on the Internet to participate in the event
and help spread the word across about the Wiki technology, Unicode
usage and above all, the Kannada Wikipedia.

Registration is free for the event. You can register for the event at:
       http://hpnadig.net/Kannada-Wikipedia-Meet

       OR

leave a signature behind from a registered userid on Kannada
Wikipedia. More on registration procedure is at:
       http://kn.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:PM#Register_yourself_for_the_event

PS: Feel free to forward across this mail to all your friends, foes -
just anyone who takes interest in Kannada.

Thanks,

   - h.p .

The very first Podcasts in Kannada

The first ever series of podcasts in Kannada is now just one step away
from Kannadigas who frequent on the Internet. Sampada has started
Podcasting the conversations with prominent personalities of Kannada
literature, discussing various issues, aspects of today's Kannada
language and Karnataka. What more? You get to listen to this free of
cost. (Please note that you might need to register if you aren't
already a member there)
Visit:
http://sampada.net/podcasts

(The files available for access are audio in mp3 format which can
either be streamed from the website or downloaded - depending on the
listener's comfy.)

Don't know what podcasting is? Visit
http://podcasts.yahoo.com/ or
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcasts
to find out.

This podcasting experiment is the very first of its kind in the whole
history of Kannada web. Help make it a success by listening to it and
recording your comments on the same page. We would also like to invite
suggestions on improving this experiment to make it a regular treat
for Kannadigas on the web. After all, that is how we give back to the
language we all adore so much.
