Re: Boa .061

It works fine on my system (ubuntu 7.04, wxPython 2.6 unicode)
Only thing I had to change was from this:

self.comboBox1 = wx.ComboBox(choices=["ancora", 12, 14],

to this:

self.comboBox1 = wx.ComboBox(choices=["ancora", "12", "14"],

- you can't have an integer in a choice list

> UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xe9 in position

'0xe9' is the letter 'é' (e accent aigu).

Since it does not seem to me that the file you showed is the problem,
could you give more info:

full path of boa
full path of the program
OS version & language
Have you tried with wxPython 2.6?

I ask because I have had problems with paths and accents.

Cheers,

Boa .061

If you want to put in non-ASCII characters in your file, you need to
declare an encoding at the very begining of the python file. Something
like this:

# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-

I would recommend using utf-8 (unicode) and using the unicode version
of wxpython - this assures best possible compability across different
languages and OSes.

See attached file. (attaching because your email client may corrupt
the encoding)

Just did a little test with Python 2.5, Boa 0.6.1, wxPython 2.8 unicode
on Windows Vista French and I don't see any problem.

What do you get if you do this in the shell:

 >>> import wx
 >>> wx.GetDefaultPyEncoding()
'iso-8859-1'
 >>>

frame designer crashing

Guys,

I have an application that I created with Boa and wxPython that I have
been maintaining for several years.

On FC6 With Boa 0.6.1, wxPython 2.8.4.2, trying to open the frame
designer results in a complete crash with boa disappearing without a
trace.  This hasn't happened previously.

The application runs fine.

The source code for my app is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/brewsta/

Which may be slightly different to what I have here at home but this
change in behaviour appears to have either popped up with either an
upgrade in boa and/or wxPython. Unfortunately I can't say which one at
the moment.
