AttributeError : wxButton instance has no attribute 'Bind'

That's the error I'm getting on a quick test app I was doing to try
out the latest cvs boa-constructor...

It's a very simple app, the main controls are a textctrl, two buttons
and a static text element.

The only modification to the code is the second button's event handler
to close the frame...

I have attached App1.py and Frame1.py

Any ideas why it's complaining about the buttons not having a Bind attribute?

Differences in Boa under Windows vs Boa under Linux

I brought Boa to my Windows desktop at work, I archived the cvs I
checked out on my linux desktop at home.

I have noticed the following things:

All widgets can be selected, moved or resized by the mouse in Windows.

In Linux, some widgets can be selected, some can't. Also to resize a
widget in Linux I'm having to tinker with numbers on the properties
page...

I've tried resizing a widget with the mouse in Linux. The mouse
cursor changes when it's over one of the widget "handles" but when I
click and drag nothing happens... (except maybe the rectangular box
around the widget when it's selected becomes thicker).

Anyone else notice these differences between Windows/Linux using Boa?

Has anyone been able to get Boa under Linux to be able to resize/move
widgets with the mouse instead of editing the properties page?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Problems with menus

Hi,

I am having a problem with Boa 0-4-0_pre (Windows XP & Linux, Python 2.4, wxPython 2.5.3.1) when I attach an event to a menu item.

Attached is a simple wxApp and log file. When I try to get to the designer, it throws the error in the log file, and won't go into the designer.

Anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
Duane

Re: Problems with menus

Yes. In my case I get:

	Illegal expression: self.OnMnuHelpItems0Menu

I'm new to Boa Constructor and was working through the "Getting Started
Guide." Everything worked fine until the menus (not far, unfortunately).
I'm using the Boa from cvs (Boa_0-4-0_pre branch, for it's wxPython 2.5
support). Don't know if it's related, but the Collection Editor doesn't
refresh the Names of the menu items when clicking on the refresh button.

Also, cvs can't seem to connect to the sourceforge servers, fails with:

cvs [update aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if
any)

No messages above that, so not much help.

Re: Problems with menus

I have been going through trying to do an upgrade myself, to:
ActivePython 2.4
wxPython2.5-win32-ansi-2.5.3.1-py24.exe
Boa_0-4-0_pre

In Boa, what I noticed is:
-the menu collection editor only adds separator item "-" to the collection
list when clicking the add button. the inspector view is OK
-highlighting the menu in Data view and looking at Props in the Inspector
shows no Items
-The separator (more new...) errors, "keyerror help" <see sep_log.txt>
-after adding a menu event, the Frame Designer won't open <see designlog.txt>
deleting the added Bind lines restores it:

         self.Bind(wx.EVT_MENU, self.OnMenuFileItemsexitMenu,
               id=wxID_FRAME1MENUFILEITEMSEXIT)

To migrate a 2.3 app to wx2.5 I just had to replace menu's item='' with
text='' and delete (for now) the Binds for events, and add import wx to get
a smallish app into the designer and run (so far).

Subject: Problems with menus

Hi,

I am having a problem with Boa 0-4-0_pre (Windows XP & Linux, Python
2.4, wxPython 2.5.3.1) when I attach an event to a menu item.

Attached is a simple wxApp and log file. When I try to get to the
designer, it throws the error in the log file, and won't go into the
designer.

Anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
Duane

Re: FW: Problems with menus

Hi Duane,

I am pretty sure that Riaan is working on things like this.

BTW, sending in small samples like this you can do in one file, just
include simple app, when editing your frame go to menu Edit/Simple App.
This will add some code at the bottom and you can then run that file.

See you
Werner

Re: Plone Debugging:Can I set an Conditional Breakpoint ?

Hi James,

Boa does support conditional breakpoints: define a breakpoint,
right-click on it in the breakpoints page,
choose edit condition and set it to what you want.

The debugger has some TAL spesific code, do you only get this
issue with TALInterpreter.py or was it a general question?

Cheers,
Riaan.

Re: very long response times in editor (windows)

Hi André,

This sounds very weird :(

I have no ideas, sorry.

Can you check in your Task Manager if the python process is
using CPU while it's hanging?

Nobody has reported this before so it does sound like something
particular to your pc.

Cheers,
Riaan.
