The dev contacted me on the Funambol list - there's a new client coming next Friday apparently, so maybe that
will help. But there's a new issue which prompts a feature request I'd like you to consider please.

The Droid stores/alters the numbers of American and Canadian contacts into a +1-xxx-yyy-zzzz format and
since my original (horde) address book has all the numbers in the format +1xxxyyyzzzz, this creates a
duplicate contact on horde when the phone syncs back. Frankly, I think that's a client issue - which I will
bring up with them too - but I'd like if the server could interpret that data as being one and the same. Ditto
address books that alter the number to a +1 (xxx) yyy zzzz format.

Syncing w/ google calendar?

In our continuing search for smartphones that play nice with horde/syncml, I'm wondering if there's a way
to sync horde with google calendar?

The droid and I think iphone can talk to google calendar, so wondering if this is a way to make it work. The
funabol clients are flaky at best right now, with the droid's not expected out for 6 months or so.

At the moment it seems like the best way to do this would be caldav,
which we're working on.

No. That's what synchronization is about: it does *not* create
duplicates but updates existing entries if anything changes.

Except that it's not updating the Horde address book (and I accept this may not be Horde's problem). It means
I end up with entries like this

			 	ALAN SISK	ALAN	SISK +19174469952
			 	ALAN SISK	ALAN	SISK +1-917-446-9952

The first one is the original one. As you can see, it hasn't update the entry, it's duplicated it. All I'm
requesting is that the sync code see those two numbers as being the same (i.e. to discard/ignore ascii
characters in a telephone number other than the/any leading +

Re: Sync Problem with syncevolution on N900 (text/x-s4j-sife not understood)

Answering to myself again :)

The issue was tracked down to a Device ID used by syncevolution which
looked like the one used by funambol. Since horde contains some old
workaround for old, buggy funambol clients, it "guessed" by the Device
ID, that the client must be a funambol client and therefore send the
wrong format for Syncevolution.

Details in the syncevolution bug tracker:

http://bugzilla.moblin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9347

(N900 with Syncevolution and Horde sync fine now, at least calendar
and contacts!)

Cheers,

David

Syncing with android (again)

Hello there!

Some time ago there was a short discussion about syncing a phone
running android with horde. Did I understood correctly that android
itself is not supporting syncml and the funambol client is not really
working? Is there maybe some other alternative for syncing?
My good, old, reliable Nokia E90 is slowly falling apart, so I have to
find a replacement :(

I don't think Android itself cares - though it handles vcards and can import from CSV too. The new Funambol
client is a definite improvement. I still get generic errors and have had the time to review logs to see what
that means, but I'm not longer getting duplicate contacts, or things like that.
