SOME USERS Can't login to IMAP

I have spent weeks on this, but no luck; It would be
greatly appreciated if you could help.

This is so much I can chase this far, to me it's
imap_open giving out an incorrect username when users
try to log in; I even printed out the username right
before imap_open ("pzheng" in this case); then I see
one additional character in user login name
("pzhengi") in Mysql log. The Imap server works fine
when users use outlook or other kind of mail client.
Pop3 from horde's imp is working fine too.

I think I am using the newest package.

print out right before imap_open:

[imp] pzheng <at> fengye.cc [on line 254 of
"/usr/local/apache/htdocs/horde/imp/lib/IMP.php"]

print out from mysql log:

select pw_name, pw_passwd, pw_uid, pw_gid, pw_gecos,
pw_dir, pw_shell ,
pw_clear_passwd from vpopmail where pw_name =
"pzhengi" and pw_domain =
"fengye.cc"

packages used:

php-4.2.3.tar.gz

php.ini (it's a php function, not a horde/imp function)

Re: multiple IMP front ends?

I've looked at subjects back to August but don't see anything that looks like
a multiple front end discussion. Can you sen me a URL or a Subject?

Thanks, John

I know of several people doing it, and I'm sure there are many more.

HEAD has a session handling API built in so that you can share a sessions db
between machines, but you don't need much more, and you can do that with
RELENG_* yourself quite easily.

You need to have a common session store, or to have a sticky load balancer.
Either one works just fine.

If you are going to commit it, please make it a configuration item, turned off
by default. I, too, am concerned about it being a performance eater. I also
have aesthetic problems with it, but that's why we have config items, no?

Sorry about that. I forgot how much traffic this mailing list has!

There was some discussion about this with the subject of "IMP and POP3
support". Here is what I wrote to someone else on the list on Oct 26th:

----------------
We're running IMP 3.1 in just such a setup. We've got two Dell 2650
servers running Debian Linux 3.0 (Woody) as the web servers, with a Sun
E450 running the MySQL server. The two web servers sit behind a Foundry
Networks ServerIronXL load balancer.

I'm only using the PHP default file based sessions, so it isn't completely
redundant right now. However, the ServerIron supports "sticky"
connections, so a particular client's traffic stays with the same server,
which is why this works at all. :)
----------------

I was just to lazy to go find it in my sent-mail folder yesterday... :)

It seems that the fixes to RELENG version were submitted to cvs yesterday.
It fixes the download issues with IE. But it seems that one patch hunk is
missing. This patch hunk is needed to enable users to save messages with
IE.

Here's the patch against imp CVS VERSION:
This patch enables users to save messages with IE.
