Pro versus Enterprise

Group,

Hello.  We're currently running 6.5Pro and are about to upgrade to 7.0Pro.  Having just completed my Track-It Admin course I'm really interested in going to Enterprise.  Are there others who made the leap from 6.5Pro to 7.0 Enterprise?  If so, would you be willing to share your experiences?  In particular, I'm interested in how you sold it to your bosses and what the features were that you were looking for.  Lastly, I'm interested in knowing how it all turned out.  Are you happy with your install or do the modules not function as you thought?

Thanks.

Jason

Re: Pro versus Enterprise

Hi Jason
Funny enough we just did exactly that, moved from 6.5 pro MSDE or 7.0
ent SQL. As far as upgrade problems the only issue I had was that a
couple of custom reports started failing, but as I made them it was
pretty easy to fix them also.
The thing I was really going for with the upgrade was the journaling,
forcing a entry into the record allows me to produce metrics on first
response time on calls based on priority,
which is something we've wanted for some time.
Besides that we're really trying to get our software licensing straight,
70 enterprise helps greatly!
If you want any other info let me know

A little Crystal report help needed

Hi all, hopefully someone can help, I'm dabbling in the
Workstation_components table again and I remember davidwwolf helping
me before. I'm pretty sure the problem exists with relationships and
I'm hoping that someone could give it a quick look-over.

I've uploaded it into http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Track-It_HelpDesk/
files/Reports/ It's called "Free Space.rpt". Basically I am trying
for a report that will give me details of free space on all HDD in
any of the 2003 machines. If I can get it to work well I was hoping
to use the same report for trend analysis so I can check if a
server's drive space sharply decreased.

If anyone can let me know what my mistake is I'd be very grateful!

Work Order Types Cleanup

Hello All,

I've taken over a 6.5 Pro install where the Technician's were allowed
to add values to the drop-down lists. I'm finding we have multiple
types for the same thing (E-mail, Email, and Email and Network). Is
there a nice way to clean this up?

Also, has anyone ran into trouble changing Work Order Type names? We
have one type listed as HMM that I would like to change to Horizon Meds
Manager.

Thank you.

Jason

Re: Work Order Types Cleanup

The best way to change a Work Order is to do a "Global Replace".  I believe it's under Tools - Database Utilities (Can someone confirm this?)  I believe a global replace will address both issues

RE: Work Order Types Cleanup

Before you get started, make sure you have set your security so that they can no longer add new values and cleanup you Work Order Types using File-Lookup Tables.

You can use Tools-Database Utilities-Global Replace to update TYPE field on the TASKS table.  In my opinion, the interface can be a little confusing and unfortunately there isn't any information in the included help file for using Global Replace.

If you're running on SQL Server, it's easier to replace the TYPE values using SQL Query Analyzer.  Below are a couple of sample scripts that can be used...

UPDATE TASKS SET TYPE = 'Horizon Meds Manager' WHERE TYPE = 'HMM'

UPDATE TASKS SET TYPE = 'E-MAIL' WHERE TYPE IN ('E-Mail', 'Email', 'Email and Network')

Searches on Work Orders

We are using v 7.0 Enterprise but not over the web. So the only access
is based on the limited license for use that we have.

I have tried to find out how to do searches on the Description and
Resolution areas of completed or current Work Orders. Haven't found a
way to do that. Could some one help me out here? Thanks, in advance.

Re: Searches on Work Orders

If you go to Actions\Advanced Search you can enter up to 3 options, this will search the entire work order.

I hope this helps
