The old year hastens away...., another one gone.. Out of respect for Burns (and my Scottish ancestors), I'm taking "a right guid willy waught" while writing this. A Happy, Safe, & Prosperous New Year to all. Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And days o' auld lang syne. And for auld lang syne, my jo, For auld lang syne, We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet, For auld lang syne, And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp! And surely I'll be mine! And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet, For auld lang syne. And for auld lang syne, my jo, For auld lang syne, We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet, For auld lang syne, We twa hae run about the braes And pu'd the gowans fine; But we've wander'd mony a weary foot Sin auld lang syne.(Continue reading)

Now that I actually read the lyrics, assuming that 'kindness' is a euphemism for the actual contents of that cup and considering how often that cup is 'taken' (not to mention that "right guid willy waught," some things about you Scots become clearer... Happy New year to All! I've been using some of my time off this Holiday to play with the WP-2. I have used LaddieCon with TEENY and the ROM/2 Developers' Edition TPDD client (on my NEC PC-8201A) without a hitch for almost two years. However, when I tried using my new WP-2 with LaddieCon (invoked with the '8' command line option ) I saw some strange behavior. First I transferred a handful of small .DO (WP-2 binary format) files to my Windows laptop from the WP-2 using the Files utility F2-8 command. When I moved over to the "Diskette" device and pressed enter, all the files listed. So far so good! Here's the strangeness: With the files listed under "Diskette" if I touch the down arrow key on the WP-2 the list appears to become corrupted. With each press of the down arrow key the list the WP-2 appears to replace the current (highlighted) list entry with a duplicate of the last entry in the list, until the entire list is all duplicate entries. Also, if I move off the "Diskette" device and back on, the list appears correctly again. If I try to View (F1-V) the first entry in the list, the file displayed is not the file selected, but another in the list. Likewise with the Delete (F1-D) command: the file deleted is not the one selected. It's pretty confusing, and I'm not sure I have described the list scramble behavior precisely, but it's close. If I remove all files in the LaddieCon folder but one, I can move that file back and forth between the WP-2 and the Windows machine with no problem. It's only when I have more than one file in the LaddieCon folder that things seem to go weird.(Continue reading)
I'll check it out Jim. It worked at some point with WP-2, but maybe I broke it. The WP-2 uses a protocol element that no other TPDD clients do "GET-PREV" when moving through directory entries to collect them for display on the screen. Is this an old version of LaddieCon or did you download it recently? If recently, can you give me the link you used? Anyway should be easy to fix since this sounds like a regression fault. Thanks, -- John.
Thanks, John: I thought to make sure I had the latest version of the .exe so I checked the file linked to on the Bitchin100.com Wiki article for LaddieCon: http://bitchin100.com/files/windows/LaddieCon.exe According to Windows (right-click / Properties / Version tab) the version information displayed for the file available on Bitcin100 matched the one I was running on my Win2K laptop: File version 1.0.2430.23524 Is that a valid way to determine the file version for LaddieCon.exe? Is there a way to get it to report its version? -----Original Message----- From: m100@... [mailto:m100@...] On Behalf Of John R. Hogerhuis Sent: Friday, January 01, 2010 3:41 PM To: m100@... If I recall correctly, this version also has changes to support TS-DOS/Desklink directory management enhancements. This doesn't add any value for WP-2 users, but is intended for TS-DOS users. -- John.
John: LaddieAlpha seems to work fine with the WP-2... plus I like seeing all that action in the DOS Box! I'll keep playing and let you know if I come across any anomalous behavior. I always wanted to be an Alpha tester! Thanks for making the Model T world more fun for all of us. Jim -----Original Message----- From: m100@... [mailto:m100@...] On Behalf Of John R.
