Drive Pak update

MicroSD Drive Pak update:

50 more boards were ordered tonight and will be ready in two weeks +
2 days shipping. I could have ordered using their 2 day express
service but the cost was $200+ more. The cases should also be here
in two weeks.

So... please hold off asking me anything during this time, as I have
nothing to do but wait on these parts. When they arrive, I will be
cranking out the back orders up to 2 a day.

When I'm caught up I will look into producing more paks but I'll
stockpile the key parts this time and prebuild before selling too far
ahead of building them.

Also, the CoCoNet ROM will soon support the Drive Pak using two
address configurations to allow two paks to be used at once, or one
pak being either a USB or wireless Drive Pak. In other words, the
CoCoNet server will soon support the MicroSD Drive Pak protocol, so
the partition and virtual disk scheme can be used on any "Drive Pak"
.. (wireless Drive Pak, USB Drive Pak, MicroSD Drive Pak, RS-232 Pak
Drive Pak), or bitbanger cable Drive Pak (a ROM Pak and a cable).

Hello everyone. I still make my converter. I am on a temporary
halt to production but will soon be back in my workshop,

I was the primary care giver for my father who had lung cancer but he
passed a couple of weeks ago.

I am now in the process of moving into his house which he left
to me and am rebuilding my workshop there.

I will let everyone know when I can accept and fill orders again.

You all would have liked my father. He was a coal miner with
a 9th grade education. He put me through college and could
hold up his end of a conversation on the physics of the
universe when it was the size of a marble.

He was my father and I shall miss him.

Re: New to the world of COCO

Roy,

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you're doing OK. While I'm looking
forward to the converter I ordered at this years fest it's a backup for the
one I already have so please put me at the bottom of the list of people to
get one of your converters.

Re: New to the world of COCO

You have my deepest sympathy. I went through the same thing in May
with my father.
This weekend I'm going back home so we can go spread his ashes at his
favorite hunting spot.

He didn't use the CoCo we had at all, but helped me start out with
computers when he got a Timex-Sinclair 1000 when I was 5 or 6.

Re: New to the world of COCO

Hi Roy and everyone:

I am sorry to hear about your dad as well. I lost my grandparents to
cancer, one right after another over 5 years ago and I still miss them
terribly. And real recently a really good friend of mine passed very
un-expectedly who was a mentor and colleague and was very knowledgeable in
Tandy computers.. before he bought the computer store he ran, he was a
manager of a Radio Shack for a few years. And he was an electronics guru.
The sad part on this was that he was only 60 when he passed.

Anyhow, there are times when a person passing leaves a black hole sized
space in the world by their passing and we can only try to remember them in
the best light. In the case of my friend, it was like a library was burned
down. It has been 2 years since he passed and I still miss talking with him
and hanging out... the real interesting part is I didn't think we were all
that close and definitely when I first met him, I did not like him... he was
one of those people that grow on you!

So always remember the good times!

Re: Help Locating some Parts

Hi Mike:

That would be great. Just let me know when you get a chance to test that
and all, I am interested.

Thanks,

Re: New to the world of COCO

So sorry to hear of your loss. I can not imagine life without my father.

When you can accept orders again, I'd like to order one for myself. My CM-8 worked fine when I put it up for
storage, but that was many years ago and it will take a lot of work to get it out to test it. Somehow, I don't
think it'll work.

Coco compatible monitors...

I've got some NEC Accusync LCD 71Vs in my shop. And playing with groovymame I found that they will sync to 15
and 24k signals,so I hooked one up to my Amigas, but they only display NTSC correctly, pal screens get cut
off (I think the monitor only does 240 lines <at> 15k). Do you think these will work with the Coco3 with a cable adapter?
.7v p2p on the input voltages, what does the 3 output?

Just a thought.

(As a note, the tech specs on this monitor say Synchronization Range - Vertical 56 - 75 kHz ,Horizontal 31.5 -
81.1 kHz, but this isn't correct.)

Later,
dabone
