Help with Leon + Power Compiler

Hi all

I'm realizing my stydy about power estiamtion on Leon.

I've realized the forward annotation file in dc_shell and imported it
into modelsim by dpfli.so library.

rtl2saif farward.saif leon

Modelsim reads ok that file but when i try to set_toggle_region leon i
have a lot of message like: can't find signal errorn...skipping

so the back annotation file is empty (toggle_report back.saif....)

where is the problem?
Anyone could kindly help me?
Thanks a lot
Dario

tkparse.c:819: warning: assignment discards quelifiers from pointer
target type
gcc -g -c -o tkcond.o tkconf.c
gcc -g -c -o tkgen.o tkgen.c
gcc tkparse.o tkcond.o tkgen.o -o tkparse
./tkparse < config.in > leon.tk
Signal 11

Thanks for help.

Re: make error (tkconfig, LEON3)

Never seen this problem, the tkparse utility is
taken straight out of the linux kernel without
modifications. Signal 11 seems bad ...

Try ./tkparse < config.in manually to see where
it fails ..?

comparision

Hi all
I 've a basic doubt. How LEON is better compared to
NIOS(ALTERA)/ MICROBLAZE(XILINX), as these are also
softcore processors, and they can also be synthesized
to ASICs. They also 've compilers, simulators,
debuggers etc and worldwide support. Is that the tools
are commercial compared to LEON tools which are
opensource.
Please make me clear reg. this
Regards
Prakash

GR-PCI-XC2V Developmwnt board can not connetion with Grmon

Dear Jiri :

It's so strange , i just try to program my binary file into
GR-PCI-XC2V on board flash , after the programming complete , then i
execute "RUN 0" command , the system seem halt , then i escape the
Grmon , and entry angin , seem the GR-PCI-XC2V Development board can
not initialization by itself and the PC host show "..........failed to
connect"

Do you know what the problem is ? or may i recover the system by myself ?

JOHN

Re: GR-PCI-XC2V Developmwnt board can not connetion with Grmon

Reset the board and try to connect again. If this fails,
keep the DSUBRE switch pressed during reset. This will
put the cpu in debug mode directly, and you can then
connect with grmon. The reason for these types of
problems is if your boot code overwrites the settings
for the DSU uart or the DSU itself. You should verify
that you prom image is correctly programmed, and that
it also executes correctly (e.g. on tsim).

Re: comparision

Hi,

the main difference is that LEON source code is under LGPL license and
it is possible to use it free in research, and I think, in comercial
products. However, MicroBlaze and NIOS are not free... you need to pay
for them when you buy the design tools. And also, the source code is not
available, you usually work with a parametrizable netlist. Of course, if
you pay, you can obtain the source code too.

About the compilers and another tools, all processors have free
compilers (usually based on GCC) and operative systems like uCLinux.

This kind of symptom occurs if you try to run a program compiled for
Leon3 on a Leon2 system (or vice-versa). Since the some of the system
registers are mapped in different places for the two processors, its
possible that your program is overwriting the DSU control registers and
hence GRMON can't connect anymore to the board (without a full reset).

Please check the following:

1) Are you running a leon2 or a leon3 system?

2) Which version of the compiler are you using? (sparc-rtems-gcc or
sparc-elf-bcc)

3) Which version of mkprom are you using and what command line options
do you use?

Does this help?

Reg FPU

Hi all
Is the LEON full fledged open source, in the sense,
the FPU and associated tools (simulator/debugger) are
commercial.
Please clarify.

Hi, I'm having the same problem, were you correct it?
How?

Thanks in advance,
