Re: [OT] Fighting Compass bank over overdraft fees

Nate, this is how most Banks in the US have been
for the last 40+ years..

Utterly rediculous, unethical, and slimy.

Re: [EE] SDIO cards that do I/O?

Would IRDA be a possibility? Or is that fading away?

Re: [OT] PICList.com: the old girl is running on half her drives

The version of arconis I use at my job can create a bootable disc (cd/dvd) that is
basically free of the type of operating system you are copying, the only
thing important with this is access to a machiene that you can install
acronis on to create the disc on.
YMMV though I have 1 system the bootdisc will not work on

[EE]:: Memristor - RLC & M - a new circuit element

Memristor, 4th basic circuit element. RLC + M

Sounds like it should have been a March 32nd press release,
but apparently not.

__________

"HP today announced that researchers from HP Labs have
proven the existence of what had previously been only
theorized as the fourth fundamental circuit element in
electrical engineering. This scientific advancement could
make it possible to develop computer systems that have
memories that do not forget, do not need to be booted up,
consume far less power and associate information in a manner
similar to that of the human brain. In a paper published in
today’s edition of Nature, four researchers at HP Labs’
Information and Quantum Systems Lab, led by R. Stanley
Williams, presented the mathematical model and a physical
example of a “memristor” – a blend of “memory resistor” –
which has the unique property of retaining a history of the
information it has acquired. ... Chua argued that the
memristor was the fourth fundamental circuit element, along
with the resistor, capacitor and inductor, and that it had
properties that could not be duplicated by any combination
of the other three elements.
Building on their groundbreaking research in
nanoelectronics, Williams and team are the first to prove
the existence of the memristor.

I did scale a tow truck yard's fence once, before I went to
the office, so I could check my car before confronting them.
The car had been illegally towed - it was validly parked in
my own company's car park. No dogs on duty that day,
fortunately.

Everyone knows that tow truck companies act like everyone
who works there are scum. (Funny how false impressions can
be created). Bad press at the public level doesn't hurt them
much. And may get them some business. I had in mind those
who may care about people effectively employing strong arm
tactics in their city.

Re: [OT]:: Dip dip dip !!!! <-- Re: [ E E ]:: How many engineerstochangea light bulb?

Probably find that his is carrying a mix, if he is in Katherine (middle
of nowhere but still a decent sized town)
Then he probably has 2 trailers of diesel one of unleaded and one of
premium unleaded.

Either way you better hope he doesn't hit a Liquid Oxygen truck coming
the other way from the hospital.
