i just build a fresh GPE image using OpenEmbedded. The latest default images
include the GtkWebcore based gpe-mini-browser which should fit even in small
16mb flash.

Greetings

Hi,

Right - if someone is interested: My image for the SL4 is here:
http://www.kernelconcepts.de/~fuchs/files/gpe-image-simpad-20051005210713.rootfs.jffs2

Except of the power button it seems to work fine.

I could try to build a similar one for CL4/T-Sinus Pad, but i can't test it.

RE: images with kernel 2.4.27 available fortesting

Hi,

a 16MB GPE image would be great. I would test it on my T-Sinus Pad.

Thanks
Mike

simpad addon : bluetooth + mmc

Hello

At the suggestion of Werner, I'm posting here an announcement of my
(working) hacks for the simpad : a bluetooth + mmc module. I'm
currently using a 256 Mb MMC. This leaves the CF port free for wifi
cards or microdrives.

More information on : http://www.externe.net/zaurus/simpad-bluetooth/
Please use google cache if it's down because I must do some serious
work on my websiste (including uploading new kernel sources for the
simpad).
It's not difficult to create such a board for your own use - albertr
did it. The hardest is ordering the correct parts, the wiring is
simple:
http://www.externe.net/zaurus/simpad-bluetooth/simpad-bluetooth-sd-mmc.jpg

As recently announced on the forums, I did some speed tests and I have
had no corruption when I umount the card before suspend.
Another problem with opie : it can't re-read hidp events (bluetooth
keyboard) after a suspend of if the bluetooth keyboard is connected
*after* opie has started. Everything works fine in console mode,
regardless suspend. I'll try to explore that later on.

Yet with opie, it sometimes refuse to - I then had major corruption.

I'm now considering working on kernel 2.6 and adding apm support to
the driver (to avoid such corruption), or I may first work on the GSM
addon module. I will let you know.

I think it might be worth posting a link to discussion on OE forums:

Great work on mmc driver, Guylhem!

Simpad SL4 for Opensimpad developer + Website

Hi all,

I was hoping to eventually have some to time to get back to the Simpad
Linux community, but as it looks it won't happen in the near future.

So I've decided to sell my Simpad before it disappears under the dust
it's gathering at the time (just a joke - it's been in a case).

Before I hit ebay I thought it would be better to keep this device
within the family (Simpad Linux community). So if anyone is interested
in buying it from me, then here's your chance to give me a price offer.
If noone here is interested, then I'll try to sell it on ebay.

I have the following:
- SIMpad SL4 (modified with a JTAG Interface)
- Tatonka Explorer Case with extra pouch for PCMCIA cards etc.
- Serial external Keyboard
- Netlink (bei D-Link) WLAN PCMCIA Card
- Psion Gold Card (PCMCIA Modem)
- 10Mbit Network PCMCIA (no-Name - worked with Siemens NE2K bootloader)

Also, if someone is interested in taking over the opensimpad.org domain
I could have it transfered. It would be good if someone working in the
project could take care of the webpage.

Just drop me a mail if your interested.

Regards,
Chris Martin

Looks promising, but the WLAN drivers don't work because they're still from
kernel 2.4.25. So I couldn't test the gpe-mini-browser yet. Can you please
fix this?

WLAN driver (my card is Orinoco clone) is working for me but it looks
that gpe-mini-browser doesn't work properly (I managed to view only one
simple web page. More complicated pages are just blank).

Best regards

Piotr

i found this strange effect too, need to figure out how this could happen.

I'll try to fix this as soon as possible.

Greetings
