Feature request: 'Recent files' are sorted by last usage

Another feature I would love: 'Recent files' display is sorted by last
usage. So your last used Shadow Plan file always sits on top. The one
used before that on 2nd place...

Feature request: Import from phone book

One feature I'm missing in Shadow Plan is importing phone numbers from
the phone book. Palm's calendar application lets you import phone
numbers easily. You type in a name into your calendar app, point to
->Options ->Phone book menu and if that name you typed is found in
your phone book, that phone number is imported.

So if you are creating reminders for calls in Shadow plan you simply
type in a name and import that phone number from your phone book. Now
when you do your calls, you never have to leave Shadow Plan to find
out those phone numbers you want to dial.

Sorry if that feature request was posted before. I searched the list
but didn't find something about this.

BTW: Shadow Plan is a wonderful tool. It is my personal favourite
application on my PDA and I'm using it many many times a day.

Issues with Views and completed to do's

I must be missing something! Shadowplan is so detailed and flexible that it seemingly
cannot do the most simplest of things. This therefore leads me to believe that I am a
muppet! Basically I cannot seem to get the following in one simple view in View Manager
or Filter Manager:

- Suppress all checked to dos
- Show only next actions

When I manage to get one perfectly and then try to do the next, the others come back. I
know that it must be possible, but cannot work it out. Can anyone help.

For info I have yet to fully implement my tags although here they have a notional duration
for each task. I am not precious about this and would be willing to change this to make
the above work. Any ideas?

Cheer

HH

OK, I finally was RTFM (M == message board) and found out about
linking to address book content. (->Link Manager -> Add ->Address...)
So my feature request is pretty moot. Now I love SP even more.

Re: OmniShadow

I haven't heard a response from the original developer yet, but I'll post my modified version
of OmniShadow to the group. Hopefully I can get to that later tonight, as I want to make sure
that I document all the tiny changes. I have now tested both opening and saving.

I would find this a very powerful and useful feature. I prefer to keep several different lists, but
there are times when reviewing them that I would find it beneficial to review everything from
all lists at one time. Perhaps this could be implemented as some kind of "deep link." Rather
than simply linking to another Shadow list, a deep link could directly read that external file
and its contents.

With this approach, I could rely on always finding what I need once I've assembled my links. I
would not have to take time to first consider which list I need to open before reviewing my
action list.

Re: Request: A Master file that can read others list

Why would keeping one list be a problem? Given your desire to keep separate lists, you
could have a parent item for each 'list' you like to keep, and when you want to work from
that 'list', simply zoom to that level. And, I suspect that you could use filters when viewing
the full list to display items due on a specific day (today's NAs, for example). By using a
filter and simply using the 'Hide Parents' filter, I quickly view items due today.

Would this work in your situation? I'm just not seeing how a 'deep link' is much different
from simply keeping a single list - the end result seems the same. Could you help me
understand what I'm missing?

Perhaps you should combine 2 Rules for one filter.

Filter Manager >
Custom >
Plus symbol >
Enter Name >
Rules (tap Plus symbol) >
OP: Checked = No >
OK >

OP: Target Date = Today
OK >
OK
Then, "Apply" or save it as a View.
If necessary, sort based on TargetDate.

The second rule depends on what you mean with "Next Actions".

Does it works for you?

Category List Corrupted?

I'm very impressed with Shadow and at the verge of purchasing it, but
ran into a weird problem...

I tried to edit the Category list under Tag Manager. I deleted the
"Personal" and "Business" and added "Location". Since then, all the
Category lists in Shadow went mad. The problem doesn't confine to Tag
Manager. Funny characters or empty space would display in the topleft
dropdown boxes even if I selected "All" or "Unfiled". But if I went
into Edit Category, the "Location" item display there fine.

What is the problem? What can I do to fix this problem? Do I need to
reinstall Shadow?

p.s. I'm using Treo600 and Shadow 4.3.1.

Many Thanks.

Re: Issues with Views and completed to do's

Thanks very much for the response. Next Actions are part of the 'Getting Things Done'
system. Your suggestion would work if I used due dates for each item. Perhaps I should.
However there is already a filter in the built-in list called 'Next Step Only'. What I need is
this built-in filter to work in conjunction with the unchecked filter at the same time. I
cannot work out how to do this in the custom filters. Any ideas?
