Feature Request -- support for DateBk5 floats

I just registered Shadow Plan after a short evaluation -- cool
software. What's I'd really like to see is support for floats. I use
them instead of todos.

I'd love to have ability to create corresponding floats in DateBk5,
preferably with few clicks, for Shadow to notice when these floats are
completed, and to be able to jump back and forth between Shadow and
DateBk5. When no date is specified in Shadow record, floats should be
made for today.

Would this be feasible to add to Shadow?

Re: First Impressions & Best Practice (tags & projects)

Your post has encouraged me to try something similar with my
projects. At this time I have similar steps as yours entered as
individual steps in the outline for each project. If you tag idea
works for me it will drastically reduce the length of individual
project outlines. Thanks!

panther support?

Has anyone tried the OS X beta version of Shadow on Panther? I did
and it doesn't appear to even start/initiate.

Anyone?

Maybe; I designed it for <64k because it was 1) easy, and 2) it
keeps resource tie ups low; if you've got a 200k sample, then when an
alarm goes off it could screw up existing apps; though mind you, that
would only be a problem on the T|T, T|T2 and OS4 units; other OS5 units
are buff enough.

So remind me once in awhile and I'll look into it; its doable,
though its some work. ie: Storing the 200k wav on SD is easy and could be
played... but converting it into an alarm file would be work, since Palm
OS only supports <64k chunks, so I"d have to split it up, etc. A little
work (not a 10 minute hack).

indeed. Not likely for at least a few weeks.. with the Zodiac
coming in a couple days, I'll have lot sof work for Shadow, XCade, Kronos
and now Castaway before I can do Wavelet mods :)

A few people have reported this; Apple did something to OSX
Panther that prevents many apps from working; I need to do some research
to know if I just need a recompile, or if theres systemic changes (god I
hope not.. Apple isn't in a position where they cna afford ot screw up the
developers, so I hope its the former..)

Shadow's future

Hi!

When I started to use Shadow Plan about seven months ago I was very
enthusiastic about the features, the power and the resulting benefits for
the user. I have read (and reformatted) the manual and used the application
intensively for many different purposes.

A few months later I have noticed that the time I spent on handling the
various functions and option has increased noticeable. I still don't know
if this was caused mainly by my way to use Shadow Plan or by the myriad of
features which sometimes expect too much of the user (I have avoided "...
of the average user" because Shadow Plan surely isn't intended for the
average user).

At this time Shadow's benenfits for me started to go down so I went one
step back and tried to make it a little more simpler. As a result I keep
the simpler lists in ToDo (together with ToDo DA and ToDo Sort) and still
use Version 2.8.1 of Shadow Plan.

I regard Jeff's ideas, his work and his achievement highly but I see the
development of Shadow Plan with mixed feelings. Perhaps I'm not a typical
member of the target group or too fixed to Palm's simplicity and its
benefits for the user. (One of the text about the Palm which I like the
most is "Zen of Palm", available from the developer's documentation section
of Palm/palmOne.)

One of my favourite quotes is one by Antoine de Saint-Exupery: "Perfection
[in design] is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but rather
when there is nothing more to take away". I'm aware that this approach
cannot be used under all circumstances but I think it is worth to keep it

I'm not sure what you mean by "lists the note titles"?

Linking to other applications is doable, but not high on the list
right now.

Is there any chance of a plug-in from Diddlebug to Shadow? Is it difficult?
I'd find it very useful.

Thanks for all fish.
