PDesk without Palm Desktop

Dear All,
I am new here and new with Progect+PDesk. I would like to know, can I
use PDesk without PalmDesktop. I don't want to install PalmDesktop to
my computer in the office, but I want edit my task in PDesk and
upload/syncronize with my Palm.
Is it possible? How to make it?

Thank you your help.
Regards,
KF

Re: Treo 650 link to Tasks

If you can give me an exact repeat by, I could try and duplicate it using
the Palm Emulator, otherwise I'm not sure. It's probably a bug, but one
that may only show up on your particular device or brand of device.

I don't think others have that problem, but many people either don't use
that feature, or perhaps haven't complained about it.

Re: PDesk without Palm Desktop

PDesk includes a conduit which works with the Palm Desktop. You should be
able to install PDesk even if the Palm Desktop is not installed. I would
expect the part of the install which sets up the conduit to fail but the
rest should be OK.

You would need some software to sync with your palm. I don't know what is
available for Windows other than the Palm Desktop. There are several good
alternatives for Linux/Unix.

Re: Treo 650 link to Tasks

Hi, Rick

What do you need to do a test? I had a T3 and it was work very good. I think the problem is with Treo 650. I use a lot
this feature and I am desappoint with this.

Sync With ToDo

Hi, I'm using Progect 0.30b6 on a Clie TJ37 with Palm v 4.55S.
Whenever I try to Sync with ToDo, nothing happens. Any suggestions on
what I should do to get this feature working?

Thanks!

One issue that I have found (and please correct me if I am wrong!) is that PDesk cannot save a
.pdk file as a .pdb. This functionality seems to fall to the conduit. That's a problem for me on
a Mac, because although I can run PDesk and Palm Desktop, I cannot run (or compile) a
conduit.

If I am wrong, then one should be able to use PDesk to create the PDB. That PDB could then
be installed onto the Palm via IR, Bluetooth, or a SD card. That won't handle synchronization,
but it should handle moving the outline back and forth.

Running PDesk under Debian

It seems the recent version of PDesk in CVS does not work under Debian
Sarge. I thought that I saw a posting by Ned that he was able to get it
to work, but I couldn't find it in the archives. I did come across a
post from Andy B. who was able to convert some RH wxpython rpms into
.deb files which worked for him back in Feb.

In the meantime, I was able to get a copy from Feb. 1 running after
deleting the prefs.prefs file which was causing the startup to hang.
Seems I had this problem before when trying to get PDesk running under
Linux.

Thanks,
William

PS: A link to the mailing list from the website would be great. I had to
go to the old website to find the link to the Yahoo! page. I didn't have
any recent mail from the list in my inbox and had forgotten that this
list is managed by Yahoo instead of SourceForge.

Chris,

Rick told me earlier on the list that he thinks that the name is
interchangeable. Try renaming your pdk to pdb and see if it will work on
the Pilot.

Hi,

That's what I've been doing at office which I don't have the Palm
Desktop installed. I'll just rename the *.pdk file to *.pdb and beam
to my Zodiac. It works. However, there won't be any synchronisation.
It will only overwrite whatever version you have in my Zodiac.

I have a Debian unstable/testing system on which the CVS version works.

What problems are you having?
