[HS] AndShoBBer - Android replacement for HandyShopper

Now I am back again - with 2 sets of apologies;

1) I was not following this group, so I could not give you any feedback - I will setup monitoring.

2) The versions released previous were indeed very poor. One volunteer - Gianluca - still worked hard on testing and gave me detailed feedback, and I believe AndShoBBer is a lot further now.

Therefore, please try revision 0.2.0 - XML import is more stable, and other crashes are also removed.

Somebody asked about import quality - I believe all data is imported, but a number of features are not supported (alarms etc.).

Feel free to give me feedback - preferably on andshobber-Re5JQEeQqe8AvxtiuMwx3w@public.gmane.org.

You may download AndShoBBer from https://market.android.com/details?id=dk.andbb.andshobber.database

Re: [HS] AndShoBBer - Android replacement for HandyShopper

Are there instructions somewhere to import data from other shopping programs?  I had dl'd AndShoBBer but never used it b/c I couldn't figure out how to import my data.  I am using ToMarket now and fairly satisfied with it but would be glad to do some beta testing on AndShoBBer if I can get my data imported.  Not willing to type it again.  I have imported my data from HandyShopper to ToMarket. It's not terribly difficult I just don't see an option for it in AndShoBBer.

The market still has v0.1.5. How long does it take for the update to hit?
I'll update as soon as I get a notification.

Hi AndersBroe,

I see the "What's New" page for
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.andbb.andshobber.database
shows
...

*What's in this version: Version 0.2.0 has been cleaned up even more*

The "Overview" page still shows Version 0.1.5. I then downloaded and
installed the app on my Samsung Galaxy S II. But Setting > Applications >
Manage Applications > AndshoBBer still shows version 0.1.5.

Ah well, I was looking forward to test the new version further.

Anders,

My experience has been the same as Greg, Carla and sabre23t. I went to the market and found that the description talked about version 0.2 but when I downloaded the "latest" version it is still version 0.1.5 and I'm still unable to import my HandyShopper data.
Like Carla, I'm currently trying another app (rShopping List, in my case) but am not entirely happy with it.
I'll gladly give AndShobber a hard workout if I can import my existing data.

Re: [HS] Re: AndShoBBer - Android replacement for HandyShopper

The latest version appeared for my in the market, so I downloaded it.
It's MUCH better than the previous version, like Anders said. Is it
perfect? Nah, but it's heaps better than before, and I like the progress
I see.
I re-imported a couple test lists, and it worked much better than
before. I haven't dug deep enough to find any problems yet, but on the
surface it looks pretty good.
I'll re-export some of my lists again to do a test move to AndShoBBer
and see how it goes.
Thanks for keeping at it, Anders!

and, thanks for reporting results, always keen to see

one day, I might stop using my Palm and HS...

(like the idea of bar code scanner integration)

dumb question, with bar codes, can one scan (empty) tins to make 'need to
buy' ?

Yeah, I still use mine. We shall see if AndShoBBer is a worthy
replacement. I don't carry both devices, though. When I need my
HandyShopper on me, I use my Wrist PDA. :)

Yes. Such a feature only requires a software developer to include it.
Many apps use bar code scanning already, and phones that don't come with
a scanner can get free ones that are popularly used by other developers
as a helper app.

Greg - It may be device-dependent but into which folder did you place your XML file to import?
