[HS] Can't Find my old database

I just installed HandyShopper on my new Palm Centro and am trying to
copy my old database from my Tungsten E2. I had backed up the file and
copied Handshopperdb.pdb to the new directory and hot synced it but it
doesn't show up.

Any suggestions?

You need to look for databases whose names start with "HS2_". Those
are your databases. "HandyShopperDB.pdb" is from the very old
HandyShopper v1.x, and you haven't been using that database for years
now. :-)

[HS] Re: same situation here ... HS3 WM6.1 slow scanning for databases

Just a note to say that I'm also facing this slow scanning for
databases on my new WM6.1 TreoPro with SanDisk Ultra 8GB microSD
running HS3 3.0.7 build 4525. Been using it for the last 2 weeks.
Almost always get the slow scanning for databases when clicking the
"folder" icon or the Tools>Databases command. It'll take more than
30secs to display my list of HS3 databases. But sometimes
(infrequently) it takes less than 4secs. Ah well ...

My current (hopefully temporary) workaround is to consolidate most my
databases into just two main databases, so reduce switching databases.

[HS] HS2Utils for Windows v0049 beta

As an enthiousiast user of HandyShopper HS3 for PocketPC
(WinMobile2003SE) with HP iPAQ2410, I am searching for a desktop
editor. Perhaps "HS2Utils for Windows v0049 beta" is a useful application.

Is there a users group for this?
Does anybody has experience with "HS2Utils for Windows"?

Regards, Hans Winkelman, Amsterdam

[HS] Conversion Question

I had imported from HS my grocery shopping list into SplashShopper and
used both extensively. Then my computer crashed and wiped out all of
my applications. I was finally able to retrieve the SplashShopper
material, but not the HS material. So, I have been trying to re-
establish and download some of the aps here. I have also tried to
convert the SplashShopper list to HS; it seems to be working but then
nothing actually happens so that I can load the list onto HS. Do any
of you have suggestions or does any of this even make sense to you?

[HS] Lost HS Database NLS Characters

Hello. I used HS 3.0.7 in Windows Mobile 6.0 with NLS menus. All NLS
characters inside the databases were showing pefrectly. Then I
switched phone with WM 6.1 and English menus (with NLS support
though). All other WM applications recognise my NLS charactes but now
ALL HS databases that have NLS characters are displaying garbage. Is
there something I can do to HS to make it recognise the NLS
characters in the databases?
Thanks in advance.

What are NLS menus?
What are NLS characters?
If this is language/locale related, what were your relevant settings
when things were working as you expected?

Can you explain in more detail what your settings used to be, and
what settings changed?

In case it is relevant, HS databases do not support Unicode. This
limitation is a carryover from how the Palm OS worked, and the WM
version of HandyShopper shares the limitation because it is 100%
compatible with the Palm OS database format.

I suspect that your old device did not have English as its
language/locale (the Active CodePage was not 1252), and that your new
device has English as its language/locale (the Active CodePage is
1252). HS databases simply use the Active CodePage, so if you change
the Active CodePage then non-English characters are likely to become
garbled.

If you set the language/locale on the new device to match the
language/locale from the old device, your databases will probably go
back to how you expect them to be.

Correct!, the previous Pocket PC device had active language Greek. HS
worked very well with greek characters and my all databases were
showing the greek characters perfectly. Now, in my new PPC device I am
using native english (all menus, etc) but it carries/supports greek
National Language Support (NLS). HOWEVER... now HS DOES NOT show ANY
greek characters at all... So, not only I cannot use my previous
databases with greek characters, I now CANNOT create a new database
with greek characters as these characters are shown as garbage. Any
solution???

I already answered.
Quoting myself:
"If you set the language/locale on the new device to match the
language/locale from the old device, your databases will probably go
back to how you expect them to be".

I also explained why this is the case.

Do you have specific questions about the explanations?
