[HS] What happens if I delete a store (to the items selected as being in that store)?

I'm adapting someone else's database and one of the stores they have
listed everything under is "Supermarket". I prefer to have things
catagorized under each of the three local stores I shop at, depending
on  how much time I have and whether any items I really need are only
available at a particular store. Is there any quick way to remove
these items from "supermarket" and re-assign them to the other three
(specific) stores? I don't want anything to be listed under
supermarket. I wondered what would happen in I just deleted the
"supermarket" store, to start -- but then I was concerned it would
consquently delete any items assigned to that store which have not yet
been co-assigned to the specific stores (which is a goodly portion of
the database)

Any help would be appreciated!

You can delete "supermarket" without deleting the items. In fact, if you
delete supermarket you will get a warning screen that tells you exactly
that. As to the rest others will have to help you as to whether this can
be done easily in HS, obviously it can be done one by one. HS2Utils can
be used to do it wholesale. [that is the PALM app]

You can also rename the store to the one you use most if that makes sense  in 
your case.

If you shop and "checkout" would not the items you did
not buy still be in a list you could rename?

The answer to the original question is that you can simply rename or delete the
store. It will NOT delete the items. Deleting the store only removes those store
assignments. Any items not assigned to any other store will then appear in the
Unfiled store. You can copy store assignments en masse by using the Copy
function found in the Stores edit screen. Just choose the source store, and the
destination store, then copy the item features you want. For example, you might
choose to copy the "items" (meaning just the assignment of the item to a store)
from the Unfiled store to your favorite store, but leave the prices and aisles
out, since you're likely to be changing them anyway.

The items are safe if you delete a store. You can only delete an item by
actually deleting an item (manually or automatically).

When you delete a store all the items in that store
are re-filed under the 'unfiled' store.  You can then
find in the store 'unfiled' and can be placed in the
store(s) that you want.
Another way would be to create the 3 new stores that
you want (or 2 if you follow the other suggestion),
select the item, select 'details', select 'stores...'
then check the stores you want that item in and remove
it from the stores you do not want.  You can also add
prices & aisles for individual stores at this time, if
that 'preference' is selected.

Ack. Do I need to delete the original in the backup directory?

It's not working when I sync it. It DID however work when I opened it in the 
editor, thanks!

Ng,

Nevermind. I got it. What I had to do was to send the file to Palm 
Quickinstall once I saved it to the Install folder. I removed the file from 
the backup folder before I did that, so I think that's what works. I dont' 
know if any of that is overkill, but oh well. I got it to work, which is 
what I wanted--to do my lists on my pc, then send it to my palm.
