Re: [HS] More fixes and new release of HsPcEditor, Version 10

From: "zdesk0" <zdesk0@...>
> excellent! Thanks for the feedback. I will fix the problem in the
> next version.
> --ng

Found two more problems/bugs, Ng.

(1) I created stores named with initial spaces such as " 0SMS" and " 1ZA".
HsPcEditor v10 doesn't like it. Upon loading it changes the stores list to
"0SMS" and then no longer can find items with " 0SMS" stores.

Those stores with initial spaces worked fine in HS3 Alpha #3 build 0401. For
now I use the workaround of stores such as ".0SMS" and ".1ZA".

(2) Most of my items are in category "Unfiled", for some reason HsPcEditor v10
doesn't recognize those items, when selecting category "Unfiled". However in
"All categories" view, I can see the "Unfiled" items. When I click on the
"Unfiled" field/cell, it will temporarily change into "" (blank) cell. Changing
views it becomes "Unfiled" again though.

I'll send that HS2_!TODO.PDB of mine directly to you.

Thanks for all your work on HsPcEditors. ;-)

regards, sabre23t =^.^=

[HS] Limited # of databases?

I downloaded some lists to use on my Palm and only a couple of them show up in Handy Shopper. Is there a limited #
of databases that you can use or why aren't these showing up? I have 8 databases so far on my palm but would
like to view more if possible.
Thanks for your help,
Carolyn

The limit is based more on available RAM more than anything else.
Techincally, you can have thousands of HS2 databases. Have you copied
them to RAM, in which case they must be current HS2 databases (not from
HS version 1.x), or are they on the SD card, where they must be it the
exact right folder.

They need to be in a folder called "\Palm\Programs\Handyshopper\". Best
thing to do is to go into HS2, go to the Databases screen, and have HS2
move a database to the SD card. That way HS2 will create the necessary
folder on your SD card. Having done that, use a card reader to find all
the other files you uploaded and move them into that folder.

They are probably NOT version 1.x files, since there are probably only a
few (if any) old databases at the Yahoo! site (I don't know for sure,
I'm just guessing, but v1.x files would likely be YEARS old). It sounds
like the problem is purely the location, so fix that first and then see
what shows up.

Re: [HS] Databases

I created, from the root, \Palm\Programs\Handyshopper\ and placed the
database file from my Palm in it. HS2 doesn't find it. Should I have
started from the root, as this path seems to indicate? I understood
that the database file from the Palm version was compatible with the
Windows Mobile version. Is that correct?

I'm trying to find something that will work, and I'd appreciate any help!

Ah,.... I thought we were talking about PalmOS. WinMobile is decidedly
different, and I'm not sure what the folder name should be (someone will
chime in I'm sure). But the database structures are the same, so Palm
HS2 lists will work with HS3 on WinMobile (HS2 is Palm, HS3 is Win).
I'd still recommend using HS3 to move a database from RAM to SD and then
take a look at the SD card to find the moved database. Once you find
where HS3 put it then you just need to put all the other ones there.

Re: [HS] Databases

HS3 will see the files in the same place on a card, but in RAM they need to be
in the MyDocuments folder, I believe, on a PPC device.

Greg is exactly right, of course. ;-)
http://chrisant.home.comcast.net/hs3/hs3ppc.htm#KnownIssues ...
"HandyShopper looks for databases in the My Documents folder on your device. If
you have one or more storage cards, then HandyShopper also looks for databases
on each storage card in the root folder, the My Documents folder, and for
convenience sharing databases with Palm devices it also looks for databases in
the \PALM\Programs\HandyShopper folder."
