[HS] Beaming info from one PDA to another

It seems that the beaming operation is inop on my Palm 505 and I am
trying to beam the database to my new PDA Tungsten E2. Is there
another way to get the info to transfer other than beam? Maybe send
by HotSync?

[HS] Re: PALM ZIRE 4.0

You didn't specify which Zire you are using. I'm guessing that the 4.0 is
the operating system. I have a Zire 71, with an OS of v4.5.1P and use HS2
without problems.
Here is an excerpt from the Readme text and the FAQ icluded in the HS2
download. It should answer your question.

(Readme)
HandyShopper works on any PalmT based device with Palm OS 2.0 through OS
5.x, including devices from Palm, Handspring, Sony, Acer, etc (see question
#1 in the FAQ.htm file for details).

(FAQ)
1. Does HandyShopper work on my device?

HandyShopper works on any Palm-based device running version 2.0 through 5.x
of the Palm OS. This includes, but is not limited to:
Palm Tungsten series
Palm III, IIIc, and V/VII series
HandSpring Visors and Treos
Sony Clies
HandEra
Garmin
Samsung
Acer
and etc.
HandyShopper supports a collapsible Graffiti area on any Palm OS 5.3 or
higher device, regardless of the screen resolution or size (if the device
has a collapsible Graffiti area). Sony Clie devices with a collapsible
Graffiti area also supported. The collapsible Graffiti area on other devices
is not supported, and HandyShopper will behave as if the device has a normal

[HS] Thanks you for the advice

Hello Everyone
Thank you all for your comments and advice on my recent post.
I'm still thinking what will be best for me to set up.
I've had a look at the alternative uses that people for HS.
I realize that the databases are different in style, but the properties of the items purchased remain the
same.

HandyShopper will work great on your Zire.
You can download the program ZIP file from PalmGear or this groups File section
in the Applications folder.
Please refer to your Zire's owner's manual for help on installing a Palm OS
application. It is installed the same way other Palm OS apps are installed,
through the HotSync process.

You're in good hands. You might want to look for a palm user group in your area,
or a friend with a palm that can help you learn some of the basics of the system
like installing new apps, and deleting ones you don't like. The manual that
comes with the device will also have this information.

Both of those devices have an SD card slot. If you have an SD card lying around
somewhere, you can put it in the m505, move the databases to the card, take the
card out and put it in the TE, and simply use them from the card, or copy them
all to RAM in the TE.

Sometimes, though rare, two palm OS devices don't seem to want to communicate
via IR. It's quite inexplicable, really, and other than making sure the
receiving unit does not have Beam Receive turned off in the system Preferences,
there's no solution.

You can also locate the backed up files of the lists in your m505's backup
folder, and double-click them to queue them up for installation on your TE.

[HS] Forum for PPC

Hi, I have installed HS Alpha #3 in my PPC. I would like to know
whether there is any forum for PPC devise tips and tricks related to
HS. This forum seems to be discussing issues only for Palm devises.
Thanks in advance.-- Shankar.

Sometimes I experience this IR problem between my TT and my wife's
Vx. Though there's no solution when both refuse to communicate, I
found a workaround that may help. When I want to receive, say, a
contact or a memo from the Vx, most of the time it only works when I
start beaming something from the TT to the Vx almost at the same
time, a few seconds afterwards...

Actually, this "forum" (mailing list that happens to have web access to the
message archive) is for both versions. We have PPC users in here, so just ask
your questions and people will answer. :) Note that MOST "tips" can be applied
to both Palm and PPC versions.
