There's a program called (I think) Sharkcache which
does a similar thing - often-used apps can be stored
in here and are permanently loaded, eliminating lag
for these apps.

Re: Re: Advanced Level - Prioritization Problem

Thnakyou all for your input. I've been in deep-thought mode. and the
reminders of the essence of GTD were very useful. The time that people have
put into addressing my problem has touched me.
I know why gtd used to work well for me and I think I know whuy it stopped
workimng for me - my life changes.
There's a granularity to the system in the <at> contexts. I used to have a
number of contexts as I travelled a lot and also had distinct areas of
responsibility at home and about.
What has changed is that I've become a single parent and changed to a
single office based project.
So my contextxs are work and home where at work I sit in front of a PC
nearly all the time and have a single area of responsibility with no one
reporting to me and very loose priorities and reporting
At home I have two children who give me some context and agenda but
basically I do everything. And am exhausted most of the time.
That the context worked before I think was a bit flukey because it offered
the garnularity and my tasks were fewed and larger so it was more
managaeable. I'm now stickl with trying to invent contexts where they aren't
obvious.
Dare I say it but I think the decision making process of GTD may not be for
me. OR i neeed to have a very large sometime maybe list and review review
review.
Still thinking, and the answer is NOT 42 :)

Hi Jon,

I suspect that there are others like you and me with limited contexts.
I've split my <at> PC context into 3 groups:

<at> PC-Anywhere: things I can do on a laptop or at my desktop
<at> PC-Code & Dev: next actions for coding; as a developer, this is
where most of my next actions fall
<at> PC-Online: things to look up, emails to send, etc. that require
  internet

I could probably make more but that's working for now. BTW, I got this
idea from 43 Folders[1].

Or maybe you just need to review your lists and do some more critical
thinking about where that time spent in front of the PC goes.

RE: The LifeDrive

From what I've seen discussed with the LifeDrive there are two things...

1) Those who don't have it that speculate on how slow it must be... and
2) Those who do have it and say it isn't that bad.

Which to believe?

There's a world of differences between "it isn't that bad", and "it's

Re: The LifeDrive

As there is a difference between:
I find it not too bad
I find it is ok
 or
I HEARD it is bad ...
 See ?
I still prefer the real experience then ... which ofcourse also needs to be
considered into their correct context ...

LifeDrive: a User Report

OK, here is real experience: I got a LifeDrive about 2 weeks after it
hit the shelves, and I just got back from 2+ weeks of foreign travel
with no laptop, using the LifeDrive only. Bottom line: if you
need/want a state-of-the-art palm pda with wifi, this is it. If you
are primarily interested in the multimedia aspects of the device
(mp3's, video), you may not be happy with the LD.

Memory: the 64 MB partition on the hard drive is permanent storage,
but programs run out of cache. Several small programs, such as the
traditional built-in apps, will fit into cache together, and there is
no lag. Context switches (changing apps) will flush cache to the 64 MB
partition, but for small amounts of data, no lag. Switching to a large
program that has not been recently used produces a noticeable lag.
Same with programs that need to look at a lot of files on the HD.
Outliners are interesting. Many programs of this type (Bonsai and
Shadow, for sure) write each changed entry in the outline as a
separate record, causing frequent writes to the 64 MB partitions and a
small delay. Though Manager appears to write the entire outline out
when you are done with it, so it is perceptibly, but not majorly,
faster. I know Llamagraphics spent some effort improving the
performance of Life Balance on the T5, and this may have paid off on

I owned a LifeDrive and went back to my Tungsten T5 because it was WAY TOO

My T3 "disapeared".
After a while I bought a T5.
Some weeks later my T3 "reappeared".

So now I've a T5, a T3 and my former TT (emergency).

After some days I settled to keep the T3 and sell the TT.

But, for holidays, I'll take my TT.
Because it is the only one with a screen readable under the dazzling sun,
(and in case it "disappears").
