Re: palm date stamp

Like Helma, I also much prefer Pop! to the built-in shortcut because
I can create whatever format I want.

For example, I have come to prefer the format "Thu, 31 Jul 2003" for
dates because it is less ambigous internationally than wondering
whether someone writing "12/11/03" means "Dec 11" or "Nov 12".

I have programmed a number of different date / time formats
into "Pop!" for different situations (and how much room I want to
use up). Another "cool" shortcut I have on my "Pop!" menu
is "pickAnyDate". When I select this, the standard Palm date
selector opens up. I can navigate to whichever date I want to enter
into the current text field. When I select the date, "Pop!" formats
it the way I have selected and inserts the string into my text. In
addition, I am running LapTopHack, so the standard date selector is
magnificently enhanced.

A bit off topic, but perhaps of interest to some.

Regards, Bill

Rest assured, there are many more people here that use that combination,
although I'm not one of them. If you search the archives on Agendus
/ActionNames and Shadow/Shadowplan you'll find plenty of information.

Bye, Helma

SW suggestion?

I have used just about every software solution suggested here, but I
am trying to stop "playing" and I am now very close to "plain
vanilla." The one place I can see imporovement is in the to-do list.
I use Actioneer to quickly capture to-dos and put them in "unfiled"
then I clean out my in-box by assigning them to a category. I would
like to find a program that will list the category in the "unfiled"
view like the "All" category does. Does such a solution exist?

Is this something Databook 5 might handle? I have tried it but have
not played with any of the templates.

Thanks!

Paul

RE: SW suggestion?

The built-in "To-Do" application allows you to view "Unfiled" tasks, but I
can't recall if DateBk5 does it as well. I _think_ it does, but I've just
migrated to KeySuite and I can't remember. I do know that KeySuite does NOT
allow you to view "Unfiled" tasks like you're looking to do.

RE: SW suggestion?

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but isn't this one of the default choices in
the Palm todo app?

If I use the pull down category menu (top right in the todo list screen) to
change which category I'm viewing, one of the last on the list is 'Unfiled'.
It lists those todos with no category assigned. Same kind of thing for
TodoPlus and Datebk5.

RE: SW suggestion?

In datebk5, you can set up a specific view where you can show the
unfiled ToDo's in a split screen, and show the category next to the
ToDo. You can then tap on the category to reassign the ToDo to a new
category without bringing up the details dialog. Obviously, since you
are showing only "unfiled", the ToDo will disappear from the screen,
but the category would have been assigned.

Is this what you are asking about?

RE: SW suggestion?

In the palm todo app, when you select the preference "show categories"
from the "Show" button, it only turns on the categories in the all view.
The categories of each todo are listed (partially truncated) to the
right of the date column. Yes, datebk5 can do what you want. If you
are trying to stay plain vanilla, then temporarily resort your list by
category, priority (or date) and then scroll to the bottom of the list.
All the unfiled are listed at the bottom. This may not work if you have
a long list.

Gretchen

And yes, I'm back.

RE: Welcome Back, Gretchen

Gretchen,

Welcome back. Right after you left, Denis switched from Plain Vanilla to
paper and I don't think we've heard from him since. With you two gone, the
list has been pretty dead.

It's good to have you back.
