Cursor Displayed and Touchscreen Input Rotated

Hi,

I built opie 1.2.4 successfully using openembedded build environment. My
build included mediaplayer2. I noticed that there were cases that when I
start my phone, the opie phone is showing a mouse cursor and the touchscreen
input is rotated. This happens like around 50 percent of the time. It can
return to normal state just be restaterting the system, and I observed that
the touchscreen input interpretation is normal when the mouse is not being
displayed. This only happened when I rebuilt the opie system integrated with
mediaplayer2. I hope somebody can help me through this.

Thanks and best regards,
Andy

black screen after boot

Hello!

I've just installed Opie to my Simpad SL4. After the installation, it tried to boot with the Angstrom boot
screen, and when it finished, the screen turned into black. In HyperTerminal I typed root as login, and the
root <at> simpad:~$ prompt appeared, but the screen is still black on the simpad. I made reset some times, but
there was the same. It's correctly log in, but the screen is black. The opensimpad.org does not write
anything about it.
What should I do? Please help! Thanks.

Opie-Handwriting and the Palm graffitty area?

Hello,
I managed to get Linux and Opie running on my Palm Tungsten E. As you probably
know, many Palm devices have a touchscreen that is bigger than the display.
The "off-screen" area is used for handwriting on the original PalmOS
software. On opie I can only use handwriting if I open the applet which
consumes space on the rather small 320x320 screen. Is there a way to use the
touchscreen parts outside the display the way they're used on PalmOS?

The other use of this touchscreen space is for a sort of button that performs
some actions or open apps. This makes only limited sense with the opie GUI
because the bottom menu bar always makes the same features available anyway.

Thanks,
Stefan Dösinger

Re: Calibration Broken

I just installed Familiar with Opie 1.2 on an iPaq 3650. The
installation and post-install setup went fine, but when I reached the
desktop the entire area of the touchscreen seemed to be mapped to the
bottom left corner of the screen. I managed to open DrawPad and found
that if I tap the top right corner, the click occurrs about 1/2 inch
up from the bottom, and 1/4 inch from the left of the screen.

The strangest part, however, is that the calibration was fine on all
the setup screens that appear after the calibration on first boot.
(Calibration also worked fine in GPE.)

Anyone know of a possible cause and/or solution?

Reg: Right clik event while draging and Removing short cuts from opie task bar

Hi All,

I am facing a issue in opie-1.2.3. I have ported opie-1.2.3 over qt-2.3.10 in
our reference platform. While compiling qt-2.3.10 I have used tslib-1.0.

The issue I am facing now is, while dragging an application icon in opie
desktop, always right click event is occurring. I have tested the above issue
both with touch screen and mouse for dragging. The above issue is occuring in
both conditions.

I don't want the right click event to occur when I am dragging the application
icons.

Also please help me in removing the shortcuts from opie task bar.

Opie 1.2.4 Release Announcement

The Opie Project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of version
1.2.4 of the Open Palmtop Integrated Environment, a comprehensive user
environment and application suite for portable devices running Linux.

Version 1.2.4 builds upon the last stable version (1.2.3, released July 2007),
and provides a rich graphical user environment and comprehensive selection of
applications. Applications include personal information management (PIM),
media players for many different audio and video formats, viewers for images
and electronic documents, games and many utilities for file transfer,
connectivity with other computers, etc. As with previous versions, Opie
continues to provide binary compatibility with applications developed for
Trolltech's Qtopia environment.

Opie supports synchronization with desktop computers using Qtopia Desktop, and
more recently OpenSync. OpenSync is a universal synchronisation framework
which is usable through KDE's KitchenSync tool. OpenSync frontends for GNOME
are also in development.

Like most Linux software, Opie is able to run on a wide variety of platforms.
Opie has direct hardware support for Hewlett Packard iPAQ, Sharp Zaurus,
Siemens SIMpad, and Palm devices.

Summary of changes since version 1.2.3:

  * Support for exceptions in repeating events in Datebook - allows editing or
deleting one instance of a recurring event
  * New storage management applet (cardapplet) with improved safe removal and
support for SD cards and other removable storage devices
  * Network Settings: add basic support for configuring WPA/WPA2 encryption
  * Security: more flexible display of owner information from the business
