First thing would be downloading and trying to understand how our
buildroot works. That will get you busy for some weeks :-D
Then you should coordinate your efforts with kergoth who is working on
the c700 build which should be somewhat similar.

Cheers,

Mickey.

Announce: VTUN (2.6) for OpenZaurus

Greetings,

I've managed to cross-compile vtun 2.6 for Zaurus, and have
tested it to my satisfaction on OpenZaurus 3.2. An ipkg is
now available at:

	http://www.gingerbear.org/zaurus/

This is my first ipkg, and I'll appreciate feedback if it's
done incorrectly (including this announcement: is there a
protocol for announcing packages like this? I can't post
to killefiz, since this probably won't work on the Sharp ROM).

What is it? VTUN is a simple (to learn & to use) VPN tool.
It should be useful for Zaurus+WiFi. It'd be pretty dumb
to install this for use over usbnet :-)

Links:

  VTUN: http://vtun.sourceforge.net/
  OpenZaurus:	http://openzaurus.org/

Disclaimer: I have nothing whatsoever to do with vtun nor Zaurus
development, but am merely a very satisfied user of both.

Enjoy,
^E

RE: stopped (signal)

I also encountered this quite a few times with my Z.
So i don't think it is a one off accurance, maybe two?

What version of OZ are you running?

Hi!

I skimmed through the maillist and couldn't seem to find related info
about this problem: when resumming from suspend, I got randomly dropped to
the consol with a message "stopped (signal)" followed by the # sign. The
GUI is largely intact, just one or two black lines at the botton of the
screen with the above message. When this happen, the keys no longer work.
Pressing any of the keys gives some strang chars displayed on the consol.
For example, the OK key gives '.

Meanwhile, the GUI is still responsive. I can start an application, do a
rotation, etc. I can also click logout and get a ">" prompt, but any
command I type in has no effect.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Keyboard usage for special chars

Hello OZ,

I am wondering where the Fn+space (symbol) function is gone. The Sharp doc
tells me, that there will be a virtual on screen table with symbols opened,
when pressing Fn+space.

Is that missing, or is there another possibility ?

especially "["," ]", "\" e.g. would be very nice (RegEx, perlscripts, ...);

regards

RE: stopped (signal)

This just started happening to me yesterday with 3.2. I used to have the
40/24 kernel, and did not have any issues. Yesterday I flashed to the 64/0
kernel, and now I use a sandisk 256mb SD card, formatted ext2, with /root,
/home, and /opt all on the sd card.

For what it is worth, I get seemingly random crashes - complete lock ups,
but I haven't really put much effort into figuring out what set of
circumstances causes the lock ups, so I haven't posted for help on this.

You might need to install the package opie-systemtime (or just use the
date command in the console e.g. #date 050114432003 (for May 1, 2003
14:43)).

Try selecting the keyboard from the dropdown list next to the icon. This
should be set for the next time you log in.

Should work when you choose "remove" from the package manager when an
installed package is selected otherwise just use #ipkg remove <pkg>

Sorry I can't answer the rest of the probs. Hopefully someone will have
some good advice for them:)

Werner,

If what Jordan suggested didn't quite match what you asked...

I haven't tried it but maybe the opie-unikeyboard package from the
feed would do it.

You can find all of the "alpha" versions of the Zaurus packages at
http://www.openzaurus.org/official/experimental/c700/feed/ which can be
downloaded directly and copied to the Zaurus or just type #ipkg install
opie-systemtime in the console if your Zaurus is connected to the net.

Yes rebooting is the same as making a new login.

I'm not sure how to do this as I dont use Outlook but I'm sure there's a
way to do this. The best place to find out would be to search the
archives of the OZ-Users feed.

Hope this helps,
Marcel
