ssh from Mac OS X: "stdin: is not a tty"

I'm trying to get into my Nokia 770 from a MacBook.
I have openssh installed on the N770. All the time I'm getting "stdin:
is not a tty".

I'm using a USB network connection. (The wireless connection is not
very good here.)
ping is working fine. And the problem seems to be ssh. Possibly
related to Mac OS X.
Don't have any other laptop near though.

I tried creating a new user on the N770, same result.

What can I try nexxt? (Apart from installing a more free OS on this machine ;)

Re: ssh from Mac OS X: "stdin: is not a tty"

hi,

does ssh -t (to force pseudo-ttty allocation) solves the problem ?

Do you switch off the device after every use? Why? I am just curious. On
a full charge the device has a standby time of over 6 days.

Except in RD-mode with serial-port enabled, the device should sleep when
the cover is on.

Amit
p.s. And its not a phone ;-)

iwconfig not working?

Hi,

I'm trying to setup the wlan on the N770 using iwconfig and only
iwconfig (i.e. without using any GUI). I got the wireless-tools from
repository.maemo.org

The strange thing is it doesn't seem to work properly. I can
configure it using (iwconfig wlan0) key, mode, power, but things like
essid, freq, channel, rate are not working. Whatever I set it has no
effect. essid always stays ESSID:off/any. There's no error messages,
exit code is 0.

The only thing i noticed is when i do that I get "Using default
authentication order" in dmesg

And in fact, if I use the GUI to connect and setup the wireless,
then i do a iwconfig wlan0 essid command it will reset all the essid,
channel/freq, rate etc.

    Anyone has an idea?

    Thanks.

Pigeon.

PIM suites

I am now the proud owner of a Nokia 770, and I would like to know if
there are any PIM suites with synchronisation frameworks that anyone
is working on, even if they are in the beginning stages. I see that
GPE has multisync, but it appears to only sync with GPE.

I'd like to some day be able to sync using iSync, although I realise
that's a long ways off, maybe I can take an existing synchronisation
framework and whip something up.

Failing that, are there any other PIM suites other than GPE? It's not
that I hate GPE, I'd just like to see my options. Does anyone know
anything about the one that Open Hand was supposed to be releasing?

New user woes

I just got a 770. VERY promising device!

I've installed, from the correct 1.1 repositories I think, doom, mc,
ssh, xterm. The xterm is available, but I can't find doom, mc, or ssh.

What might I be doing wrong? Should I go ahead and flash to the new
Maemo?

Installing and using bookmarks seems to be tedious; should they be?
The printed manual seems to lack detail; is there better documentation
for basic operation?

There is already Dates 0.1 released from opened hand:
http://projects.o-hand.com/dates
Informations about the repository is on the website.

I tried to synchronize Dates (uses evolution-data-server as backend)
with my desktop evolution with opensync.
I mounted the home directory of the nokia 770 with sshfs and set the
location of the evolution calendar.ics (used by Dates) in the
configuration of the evolution plugin.
But even synchronizing with a file on the desktop side didn't work. It
looked like, opensync could not open the calendar.ics file.
Maybe someone had more success with it?

My charger was stolen with my suitcase, so I was hoping to save
battery :-( And I am new to the 770, so I have no experience at all.

Thanks,
Rainer

Hi,

Installed yesterday "Minimi browser" and TiddlyWiki. It's acts as it saving changes ("Do you want save chages?" "Yes", "No"), but after quitting browser and restarting there is no changes saved. Any idea where to tweak things?
