Quick question... Is this project dead?!

To all those working on Y... is this project dead?!

I see no activity on the pipermail mailing list excerpt since August...

Where's everyone?!

Fred.

Busy. Go away and be patient if you can't be useful.

Re: Quick question... Is this project dead?!

From what Andrew and Mark say, they're reworking a lot of the core components
because they were written hastily by Mark to meat a deadline. Having a good
codebase is more important than lots of progress :)

Since I'm of no use in the area of programming, I'm just watching and waiting.

Regards,
James

Looks like it is.

Having watched the irc channel for some weeks
I can only tell you to have a look at Y+ or fresco.
The latter is dead, too, but has many interesting features
included.

Greetings,

Nico

That's the dumbest thing posted to the mailing list all
month. Development activity is roughly inversely proportional to time
spent farting about on IRC, for pretty much any project.

Or else busy testing xorg. At least I am. Looks like the
project suddenly became non open source. Thats synonymous to
proprietary right?

Re: Quick question... Is this project dead?!

My understanding would be that It's still open source, and it's not
dead. Either get arch access for yourself and co-ordinate with
Andrew, Mark, and whoever else is reworking Y right now if you think
you'd be of help in this early stage, or sit and wait and see what
comes of it like the rest of us.

Everybody in the world has precisely the same level of access.
