Re: Test Lexmark X1130

Thanks for testing it. You can actually adjust the size. This isn't
obvious in xsane, which seems to minimize the standard options window by
default. If you pop this window open you can select from several
different sizes.

Epson PF3490 in raw mode

Hi Krzysztof,

Did you manage to patch the snapscan backend in order to get full bit
depth raw (uncorrected) data from your scanner? I'm interested also but
have very limited C skills.

Re: help with Canon 650U

Hi,

from what I see from the logs everything looks fine! The scanner is detected
but the backend refuses to open the device node.
Did you start scanimage -L as user or root?

Not yet but I have only limited time for this so I expect it will take
another couple of week(end)s or more.

RE: help with Canon 650U

those logs are from root. I looked at my kernel. I have all the usb stuff
compiled into the kernel. I have usbfs compiled. I'm guessing it is a problem
with udev. I ran the knoppix cd last night, hotplug creates /dev/usbscanner and
my native machine does not. I have hotplug, udev, and coldplug installed. right
now the kernel is using udev. I can see that in /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug. I
didn't bring logs with me today, I have left over hotplug config files on my
thumbdrive. hotplug doesn't even do a thing with my scanner. It's like hotplug
doesn't see something that is there. as for udev, I noticed last night that
scanners isn't listed in the rules. So far today I haven't found anything for a
need for scanner in the rules.

Well, if you can think of anything post back.

Thanks again,
Josh

Ricoh IS450DE

Hello,

We have two Ricoh IS 450DE scanners which are not supported by SANE. We
are very interested in continuing to use these scanners in our SANE
environment. Is anyone interested in developing a backup for this
scanner? If so, please contact me. I am interested in paying for the
work and the completed work would be integrated into the SANE project.

Regards,

Yes, probably. In your case it is definitely a "scan module locked
error" - which means you should check the manual and remove the
transportation lock.

Those Fujitsu scanners are not Avision OEM one? (I have not yet looked
at your souce though.) I hope you do not throw time duplicating what
is in avision.c for years .. ,-)

[RFC] additional sanei_usb API to queue multiple URBs asynchronly

Hi all,

I currently review how to further improve the SANE/Avision backend to
get to the scanners maximal thruput, e.g. what the Windows driver
get's out of those devices.

The 16kB buffer of the Linux usbfs devio looks like a showstopper and
the kernel people indicate it is not likely to be removed / resolved easily or
soon.

Another option would be to queue more URBs and handle the completion
asynchonously. Would anyone veto when I further extend the API with
async flavours?

Yours,

nope- AFAIK, only the sp15c, sp620c and perhaps one of those 40xx models
are avision. the 5110eox2 is mustek, and the rest are fujitsu made.
