Could I suggest a new parameter in the 'o' line?

M<filename> (as opposed to m)

It would specify a mask to be used in the creation of the
panorama. Only regions with mask != 0 will be considered. The mask
will be resized to match the size of the input image. Formats
accepted: png, jpg and tiff.

Sounds good. What should happen if the original image also contains a mask?
AND them?

I like the AND operation as a default. But thinking in terms of the
future the "filename" after option (such as M<filename> is very
restrictive. In second thoughts I would prefer something like
'M:<filename>' that will allow us to expand M in the future if we
choose to. For example, to implement an override (one mask but not the
other). Or we could always expect "" around the filename after the M,
but that could be confusing.

What do you think?

That would indeed be more flexible, but I don't have any preferences for M:
or M.
I'm not sure if other options like OR the masks, or ignore one mask is
really required, it strikes me as a kind of feature creep, because
exchanging masks etc can also be done in other programs (both gui and
commandline), if required.

I've been trying to compile pano13.dll and I get a missing ptfeather.h file from the SVN code.  Could someone fix this or advise how I can get a copy of this file?

Re: ptfeather.h

The SVN build is broken. I created fake panoFeatherFile() function but
build ends with another error:

gcc -g -O2 -o .libs/panoinfo panoinfo_unix.o
-L/usr/local/src/panorama/panotools/trunk
/usr/local/src/panorama/panotools/trunk/.libs/libpano13.so
/usr/lib/libjpeg.so -lpng -ltiff -lz
/usr/local/src/panorama/panotools/trunk/.libs/libpano13.so: undefined
reference to `writeTIFF'
/usr/local/src/panorama/panotools/trunk/.libs/libpano13.so: undefined
reference to `getCropInformation'

Definitions of these function are removed, but getCropInformation() is
still used in file.c:334 and file.c:407 and writeTIFF is used in
pteditor.c:71 and pteditor.c:192.

There is also missing PTinfo.c in tools directory.

Re: ptfeather.h

Hi Michal,

I have removed callss to getCropInformation and writeTIFF. They are no
longer needed. I am going to try to build it under Linux and see what
is going on. I suspect that might some dead code in there using them.

BTW, I just added the 2 missing files.

Re: ptfeather.h

Yes, the linux linker checks for every reference while the OS X does
it only at run time.

I have uncommented getCropInformation.

writeTIFF should not be needed any more (I don't immediately remove
the old code, just in cases like this, so grepping might still show
it). It builds cleanly under linux now (Fedora Core 5).

The changes are now in SVN
