ok, thanks, one minor thing, could we disable the source browser as we
don't use the opensg repository anymore and it looks kind of old and
inactive.

thanks & kind regards

that should of course say the "opensg.org repo" as the sourceforge one
is the current master right now ;)

:)
I've disabled it for anyone who is not logged in or does not have admin
privileges for trac - will check with Dirk if there is a way to
completely turn it off.

Don't think there is, but admin only should be fine. If you have admin
rights and don't know about SF's GIT let me know and I'll revoke them.

German National Summer School 2012 on developing "VR and AR Apps"

*********************************************************************************************************
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

to the first German Virtual Heritage School - Year 2012

GNSS 2012 – German National Summer School on “Developing VR and AR Apps” for
the digital cultural heritage

Saalburg, Germany, 3-7 September 2012
*********************************************************************************************************

This is the first edition of the german national summer school conducted by
the Fraunhofer IGD. The school introduces participants to the new field on web
deployment of VR and web based AR Applications ("VR/AR Apps") as well as
related topics on applied CG technology in the area of virtual and augmented
digital heritage, 3D reconstruction, technological tools dedicated to
processing and integration into web front ends, ported to mobile smartphones
and registered with the physical world. The students will learn basic concepts
on 3D documentation, capturing, tracking and reconstruction technologies
required for online/offline and mobile virtual museums. The topics to be
addressed are:

▪ Virtual Reality on the web (VR Apps) – HTML 5 embedding of interactive
3D graphics, X3DOM, 3D event handling and routing, interaction and advanced
visualisation techniques within web browsers, online virtual museums
(http://www.x3dom.org)

▪ Augmented Reality (AR Apps) – capturing, registration,
analysis-by-synthesis techniques, extensions to browser front-ends, remote
tracking and advanced feature based registration methods (e.g.

Immersive Authoring Tools for Creating Virtual Environments

Dear All,

My name is Andrew Dunk and I'm a PhD student at the University of Reading, UK.

If you create of have ever attempted to created virtual reality environment, would you please help me with my research by answering a short questionnaire? It will take about 5 minutes to complete. I would be very grateful.

As part of my PhD research, I have created an authoring tool (using OpenSG) that allows novice users to develop virtual environments while immersed within a CAVE like system without needing any programming or modelling experience. I am interested in finding out about peoples current design methods for virtual environments, and their skills in 3D modelling and coding, so they can be used as comparisons with my work.

All data collected is anonymous.

Here is a link to the questionnaire: http://goo.gl/BwwXu

There have been some requests from people for more details about my research and the immersive authoring tool. I have not got a website (yet) but here is a short video of someone using the immersive authoring tool to create a simple bathroom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3Dc1eFZg_A

Thank you for your time,

Andrew Dunk

OpenSG1.8 - Problem with BlendChunk

Hi all,

we have a problem with the OpenSG Blendchunk implementation. We are trying to render a geometry that has
blend equation set to FUNC_ADD. The graphic chip is either onBoard Intel or ATI. It seems that GL extension
glBlendEquationEXT is not supported by these chips. OpenSG throws a warning that indicates that the
extension is not supported. However I'm not sure if this extension is necessary when using FUNC_ADD.
Please find attached a test geometry..

Thanks,
Michael

as far as I can tell glBlendEquationEXT is introduced by
http://www.opengl.org/registry/specs/EXT/blend_minmax.txt
With subsequent extensions
 - http://www.opengl.org/registry/specs/EXT/blend_subtract.txt
 - http://www.opengl.org/registry/specs/EXT/blend_logic_op.txt

adding additional blending equations (GL_FUNC_ADD is just the OpenGL
default blending equation: C' = clamp((Cs * S) + (Cd * D), 0.0, 1.0).

If you need additive blending you can leave _sfBlendEquation set to
GL_NONE (which is functionally equivalent to GL_FUNC_ADD anyway) and set
_sfSrcFactor = GL_ONE and _sfDestFactor = GL_ONE.

	Cheers,
 Carsten

Float 1D Array to shader

Hi all!

I have a problem with passing a 1D Array of floats to my shader:

TextureObjChunk::initialize image failed: invalid value(0x501)

This error happens when I try to use a 1D Image:
img->set( Image::OSG_RGBA_PF, N, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0, (UChar8*) &buffer[0], OSG::Image::OSG_FLOAT32_IMAGEDATA);

where buffer is a std vector<float> with size 4*N

Texture:
tex_obj_chunk->setTarget(GL_TEXTURE_1D);
tex_obj_chunk->setInternalFormat(GL_RGBA_FLOAT32_ATI);

I am not sure what enum I have to use, I think there is an obvious mistake.. (I hope so ;))

Best regards,
Victor

that looks correct.

have you tried not setting any internal format? IIRC the texture chunk
usually figures it out by looking at the image attached to it.
If leaving internal format unset does not work, internal format should
be GL_RGBA or GL_RGBA32F for your case (at least that is my reading of
http://www.opengl.org/sdk/docs/man4/xhtml/glTexImage1D.xml).
Please note that GL_RGBA32F is the core spec name for that enum value, I
guess the extension name is GL_RGBA32F_ARB (from GL_ARB_texture_float
extension).
