I am no expert but the answer I think is $MAKE LDFLAGS=-s I will try it and
see.

I replaced the second make in the build script with

make "LDFLAGS=-s" DESTDIR=/f/GCC_InstallDir install

but the results are the same as before.

Thanks
Richard

Works perfectly, I have now a GCC 4.0.0 with iconv support. By the way, I was
able to build Binutils 2.15.97 too. Both built in a subdirectory of the source
tree.

I am sorry I missed the options in your build script already there but I didn't
miss the .configure output
ie "seeing if -s works no" so apparently it isn't which is why
we have fat executables and objects . Your build script does the job here though.
I am going to test my cross-compiler on it.

Snapshot: mingw-4.0.0.exe

File: http://prdownloads.sf.net/mingw/MinGW-4.0.0.exe?download

This is an alpha version of the installer. The packages installed from the
Current component are quality production ready applications. The alpha
installer is offered for user feedback as soon as possible. Weeks more of
work is required to get the installer to where it needs to be. One
important missing feature is the ability to select a mirror. Mirror
selection will be the next item added.

Note, there were supposedly others developing a package installer. As I
put this together in a weekend, I decided to go ahead and upload the
result.  If those others have anything usable, please accept my apologies;
I would like to see the differences anyway. The package I used to create
the installer is ISTool (www.istool.org). ISTool is a GUI IDE and
enhancement for INNO Setup. I will eventually upload the scripts to create
this installation but for now I don't have those the way I want them for
maintenance.

Earnie

Google is your friend, please use it. ``mingw allegro'' brings plenty of helpful
information.

I have been trying to get a working network installer but so far have
not had good luck finding the proper NSIS commands to get it working.
Rather than let this sub-project slip any longer while I grasp at
straws, is anyone able to lend a hand and point me in the right direction?

I probably just typed the wrong query into Google :-)

trying to use libarchive

I downloaded libarchive for windows from this website:

and tryed to compile some source code using it.
a few problem arise:

1st in included file archive_entry.h:73, 88, 105 & 122 there are problem with use of undefined type:
gid_t, uid_t

how comes there is such an error on released important file.
did there is an undocumented required include before including these files?
