[patch #2775] Perl support for id-utils 3.2d


Update of patch #2775 (project idutils):

                  Status:                    Done => Ready For Test         
             Open/Closed:                  Closed => Open

Follow-up Comment #4:

Reopened as bugs seem to be present in this scanner.

Try the attached example perl file and run mkid, lid.
A single quote becomes part of some tokens, and it should not
be there:

$ mkid
$ lid | grep "'"
magic'         doc2html.pl
mime'          doc2html.pl
try_html'      doc2html.pl

new bug-idutils mailing list

Hello,

this is to announce that a new low-traffic moderated
mailing list is available for the GNU idutils:
bug-idutils@... .

I invite users and developers still interested in the
idutils to use this new mailing list for bug reports,
feature requests, and general idutils discussion.

I'd also ask any one interested in having working perl
, java or lisp support to test the latest CVS code
with his perl, java or lisp files, and report problems
found.

Some problem is already noted in the patch entries:

Details:

Running eid <var>, then using "/xxx" to skip to the first match of xxx in the
file list is not working. 
There's something wrong with the strcasestr loop. I unrolled it and it works
fine now.
This patch is against 3.2.d source pulled down from ubuntu.

Hello Bruce,
thanks for your report.

Could you give a more detailed example of what you expect,
and what you obtain instead?

It would also help if you try with the latest release (4.0)
available on
http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/idutils/

or with the current CVS code (see savannah CVS page for instructions).

I've tried some lid -R edit with / and it works for me.
Could you also share the value of your VISUAL and EDITOR environment
variables if any?
