MWF and Cyrillics

Hi there again!

I am trying to run .NET application compiled on Windows with Microsoft
VB.NET. It is starting ok but the whole application is using cyrillic and
the display is garbled. Where should I hack to unlock others encodings and
so on... ?

Thanks in advance!

DataGridView: Final report

Hello,

Here is my final report.

I've finished almost all things I've planned and I've tested the

Re: widgets

Ok, cool I am glad that it is the same thing.  From some reading i did it made it seem like GTK# was winforms that is why I was confused.  Thank you so much for the responses.

Also do you know of any sites that list open source projects that are using mono as the key development source?

thanks again.

Howto mix WinForms and Cairo?

Hi there,

I am trying to mix Cairo and WinForms, however I don't get it ;-)
Is this possible at all? A very basic example would be enough.

Thank you in advance, lg Clemens

Re: Howto mix WinForms and Cairo?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean with 'mix'. The cairo contexts we
use are not accessible to your app (they are kept internal to libgdiplus).
You should be able to use Mono.Cairo without any problems, assuming you're
not trying to draw on Winforms' windows. That's a no-no, since you don't
have access to the X drawables you'd need to setup a cairo context.
The proper way to do that is to use System.Drawing, which is compatible with
Winforms. Whenever you want to draw on a window, you override OnPaint, and
as part of the events, you get a System.Drawing graphics context With that
context you can use any System.Drawing method to draw whatever you need.

Maybe a description of what exactly it is you are trying to do would help.

Cheers,
  Peter

Re: Howto mix WinForms and Cairo?

System.Windows.Forms is not using Cairo directly. It uses System.Drawing
that uses GDI+ on Windows and libgdiplus on all other platform. libgdiplus
uses Cairo as well as other components. So System.Windows.Forms is far from
Cairo.

I don't think you can manage to manipulate System.Drawing objects using
Cairo and I don't recommend to do so. Use System.Drawing to draw on Forms.

Mono.Cairo and System.Windows.Forms cannot interact so you can't use Cairo
to draw to a Form but you can use Cairo for anything it supports.

Re: Howto mix WinForms and Cairo?

So Cairo is GTK# only for now - quite sad since libgdiplus adds
another layer of overhead (the stateless GDI+ draing machinery) which
I do not want. (I plan to emulate Java2d on top of mono's APIs,
however Java2d is a state-based darwing machinery, so I fear a lot
temporary objects will need to be created.)
Because of time preasure (how could it be different) I'll implement it
using System.Drawing and see how well it works.

Thanks a lot for answering, lg Clemens

Are you running your app in Linux or Windows? If you are using Mono,
witch version of libgdiplus?

Can you fill a bug at http://bugzilla.ximian.com report with a small
case that allows the problem to be easily reproduced? A scree ncapture
can be also useful.

Regards,

Jordi,

I wonder if the Winforms handles are X handles, and if so, they could be
used with Cairo.

Miguel.
