Yes, I was surprised that ethnologue.com says 23 million for
"Indonesian". Hopefully the gnome-i18n coordinators will allow a
freeze-break for that - luckily it's not my decision anymore.

2.12 Press Release ready for translation

The press release is now also ready for translation, giving
you one week for translation before the release on September 7th. The
press release is now string frozen, and only the gnome-i18n
co-ordinators may decide to break that freeze.

The instructions are much the same as for the Release notes, though

Feel free to add your own local press contact details when translating, but make 
sure that any local press contacts are subscribed to marketing-list and listed here:

When the release happens, please do publish this press release as widely as possible, 
and link to the release notes in your language. Submit it to new sites, send it to 
journalists, put it on press-release systems, etc.

How about the location at the begining of the text. Are translators 
allowed to change "BOSTON, Mass" with their city/country name?

Yes, I guess that is OK. Do it if it seems to make sense for you, though
it might be strange if everyone does it. Maybe you would want to rephrase
the sentence somehow though.

I changed "Boston, Mass" to "Boston, Massachusetts" since "Mass" makes
very little sense to anyone not familiar with the abbreviation."

Potential availability of new fonts, Stix fonts


Hi All,
A project that has been running for around 10 years to create a set of 
fonts of the academic community, is about to release the work near the 
end of the 2005. The font has glyphs (characters) for Latin Basic, Latin 
Extended A and B, Cyrillic and Greek, making it quite valuable if it 
could be open-source/freedom software.

They just announced a draft distribution license of the fonts, that 
roughly resembles the license of Bitstream Vera, with caveats.

I tried to get debian-legal to give some concrete direction

Just wanted to point out that a string in the release notes mentions 
Mandrakesoft. The company has been renamed to Mandriva. Please adjust 
the text. :)

Hi, me again.

The release notes talk about the Nautilus right-click menu. This is 
wrong for several reasons - it should be a context menu. For instance, 
when mouse buttons are in lefthanded mode, or when you activate the menu 
by keyboard, etc.

Also: "GNOME 2.12 is the third 'time-based' GNOME release."
2.4 was time-based too, IIRC. So, we have 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 2.10 and now
2.12. It should probable be "fifth" instead of "third", shouldn't it?
