gnome-shell recorder and pipeline

in these days i'm searching the web to find wich command starts when
we press the keybindings ctrl+alt+shift+r to make screencast,
my research fail i can not find,
i'm not a coder only a gnome-shell user.

i like to know how screencast work,
because in my setup for the recorder i have inserted this pipeline:
queue ! videorate ! vp8enc
quality=8 speed=6  threads=%T ! mux. pulsesrc ! audio/x-raw-int !
queue ! audioconvert !
vorbisenc ! mux. webmmux name=mux

and with pavucontrol i can better understand how gnome-shell recorder
capture audio and from.

Now with this setting my audio and video works fine, but when i stop the
screencast i can view in pavucontrol the "gnome shell record stream
from" is active,..
if i restart the screencast, a new "volume control shell record is
opened", but no sound has been keeped.

to make another audio/video screencast i do  alt+F2 r,....

with this, all last gnome-shell audio recorder volume was killed....

in substance i want to start and stop screencast, kill the gnome-shell
audio recorder with personal script or launchers, without restarting
the gnome shell

how to find the command...

gnome-setting-demon

Hi All:

I found on Ubuntu 12.04 using xrandr –output VGA-1 –scale 0.8x0.8,  then get the screen info you can found:

                    Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 8000 x 8000

VGA-1  connected 1024x820+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 338mm x 270mm

                1280x1024      60.0*+   75.0

                1152x864       75.0

                1024x768       75.0     70.1     60.0     59.9

                832x624        74.6

                800x600        72.2     75.0     60.3     56.2

                640x480        75.0     72.8     66.7     59.9

                720x400        70.1

But in  Ubuntu 11.10 using xrandr –output VGA-1 –scale 0.8x0.8,  then get the screen info you can found:

                   Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 820, maximum 8000 x 8000

VGA-1  connected 1024x820+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 338mm x 270mm

                1280x1024      60.0*+   75.0

                1152x864       75.0

                1024x768       75.0     70.1     60.0     59.9

                832x624        74.6

                800x600        72.2     75.0     60.3     56.2

                640x480        75.0     72.8     66.7     59.9

                720x400        70.1

I found the difference caused  by one gnome API, gnome-setting-demon, it call ProcRRSetScreenSize after xrandr API to resize the desktop size,  Does it reasonable ????

         Thanks for your info!!

+1 I'd also like to change this value, but have been unable to discover
any relevant setting.

If you discover anything please remember to post it back to the list.

Ubuntu app promotion campaign: brasero

To the web maintainer or developers of brasero:

As part of the Ubuntu app promotion campaign started by Jono Bacon, we have an important favor, considering this page.

We would like the brasero project page to include this image.
... so that Ubuntu users can quickly give a click and have it downloaded into their computers without fuss or delay.

Here's the html snippet.
<a href="https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/brasero/"><img src="http://developer.ubuntu.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/downloadonubuntubutton.png"  title="Download for Ubuntu" alt="Download for Ubuntu button" width="122" height="49" /></a>

Feel free to ask any questions about this. Thanks for your time.

Hi John,

Just file a bug against brasero for this please. This mailing list is
not for websites. Furthermore, that section you're referring to is
maintained by Brasero authors themselves. There is no separate web team.

gdm & starting pulseaudio

Does anyone know how pulseaudio is supposed to be started for
gdm/gnome-shell sessions?

A test VM of a freshly installed Fedora 16 is, I think, showing
gnome-settings-daemon starting a pulseaudio process (directly or
indirectly). But my main PC is not starting one, causing errors when
gnome-shell & g-s-d try to use *my* one after I've logged in.

I'm running out of places to ask, seems *no-one*'s got a clue (no
responses on several mailing lists now) :-/

Fallback solution still available?

Hi a few questions:

(I'm upgrading most computers to Debian testing, and want to keep as
many good features of gnome2 as possible)

1) is the fallback solution of gnome3 still available?
2) my laptop does have a slow 3D card, I think an i915. this makes
gnome3 extremely slow, I do only have 1G of memory. How to select the 2D
option, I cannot find any gnome settings options.
3) How to get notifications, e.g. of new mails when evolution is not in
the current desk/whatever name?
4) I want my netspeed applet back on the window list, any chances for
that?
5) Will have more questions later

Thanks!

I want a toolbox ( or a disposible panel, or a bunch of small menus, or a panel drawer)

I have brought this subject before. I would like to have a discussion
with someone who is somewhat knowledgeable about Gnome3 about what might
be appropriate to meet my and other user's needs. After a productive
discussion I will send off a detailed Request for Enhancement.

Asus F1A75-V PRO motherboard (shutdown -- Ubuntu 12.04) does not work !

Hi all,

I just recognized that I do have a major problem. After I made a shift to a new motherboard (Asus F1A75-V PRO motherboard) on my Desktop I found out that the system is not longer able to make a shut-down.  I use Gnome 3 asap I use the normal notification bar right side corner and press shut-down, the system tries to shut-down but somehow it came not longer than to the Ubuntu Screen with the 3 points. That's it, afterwards I have to press the button on the Desktop.

I tried to run sudo pm-hibernate and than the system runs without trouble.

Maybe somebody has an idea how I can fix this mess?

best regards
Alfons
