Re: Want to use hot keys using [Win] key and the like

Hello. My handle is Arrus.

I decided to stop the setting of the hot key that used the [Win] key
which was etiquette of Windows. Because there are etiquette of Metacity
in Metacity.

Making gnome panels hidden by default on startup?

Hello all,

I'm trying to customize my gnome desktop to be as uncluttered as possible.

Does anyone know how to configure the gnome panels so that they will start up in the hidden state?

Of course, I know that one can right-click on the panel and choose to autohide; and also that I can ask it to provide the show/hide buttons on its side. But the autohide still leaves an ugly strip on the screen (is it possible to force this strip to be zero pixels high?); and I have to manually click on the show/hide buttons after every boot in order to hide the panel.

I'd much rather force the panel to start already in the hidden state (with only the tiny show/hide button on the left corner visible), so that I would use the show/hide buttons only to show the panel (in the few cases where alt+f2 is not enough ;).

Any thoughts on that? What do you do in order to reduce the clutter in your gnome desktops?

Thanks for any answers,

Truxxon

FreeCell

Please redo the color of the cards in FreeCell. The new version is very
difficult to see.

Arnold, this mailing list is a general mailing list for Gnome
programming questions, e.g., "How do I get an image to display rotated
on a button?" Each individual application in Gnome usually has it's own
dedicated mailing list or section in the Gnome bug tracking database.
That would be the correct place to send a suggestion for a particular
application. The authors of FreeCell may or may not follow this general
purpose mailing list.

Multimedia keyboard bindings

Hi everyone,

sometime my multimedia keys was working great with GNOME, after an
upgrade to the latest Debian available packages for lenny, only volume
control is working.

I think that some configuration is missing or wrong, because if i make a
new login and enter gnome, the keybindings works on it.

It is probably that if I delete all gnome configurations for my main
account it will start working, but I have a lot of things there that I
can't loose.

i tried to google a lot, found a bunch of similar problems, some of them
very old (3 or 4 years ago), but none of them told me where I can tweak
to make my multimedia shortcuts work.

can anybody point me at where the problem might be?

I am using gnome 2.22, but the problem started on some other version
older than this.

how to delete minimize icon on top of window

Hello,

I recently encountered a problem.

I build the GtkWindow with gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL), I can delete the delete icon and maximize icon with gtk_window_set_deletable(GTK_WINDOW (window), FALSE), gtk_window_set_resizable(GTK_WINDOW (window), FALSE), however,  there is no API which can delete the minimize icon. I want to delete the minimize icon and maximize icon, at the same time , keep delete icon, what should I do?please help me?

Thank you!

                Best wishes!

changing gtk language at run time

Hello All,

Looking at the locale support, I can change language by setting LANG variable (or changing locale at start time), and application (developed on gtk 2.0) loads correctly for the language, but I want to change the language at run time. some thing like different language for different windows.

Is there any way to do so ??

Any help would be appreciated ..

Thanks,
cm

recognize automatic login

Hello,

is there a possibility to tell, whether a normal login or an automatic
timeout-login occured?
I want to use this as follows: If a usual login occured, everything is
fine; otherwise the computer is likely to have been started
automatically to record some tv-programme, so kaffeine should be started
and the screen should be locked (gnome-screensaver-command -a).
Any other suggestions how to implement this are wellcome as well.

Best regards,
Stefan
