Preliminary results for Membership Vote Regarding Change to Bylaws

The GNOME Foundation Membership & Elections Committee is pleased to
announce the preliminary results for Membership Vote Regarding Change to
Bylaws.

We strongly encourage everyone to look at the detailed results to verify
their vote.

These results can be challenged by sending an e-mail to
elections <at> gnome.org . The challenges have to be sent before MOnday,
October 22, 2007, 23:59 UTC. Please note that these results should not
be considered final until any such challenges have been resolved.

The question was: "Should Foundation bylaws be changed in order to amend, in a way that current text of VIII
3. (a) "Each of the directors shall hold office for one (1) year." to be changed as "Each of the directors
shall hold office for one (1) year, or a period of up to two (2) years as determined by the Board and announced
prior to an election being called."?"

The results are:
        yes (125 votes)
	no (22 votes)

If the results are not challenged, current text of VIII 3. (a) "Each of the directors shall hold office for
one (1) year." of Foundation Bylaws will be changed to
"Each of the directors shall hold office for one (1) year, or a period of up to two (2) years as determined by
the Board and announced prior to an election being called."

The next board will serve for a period of 18 month starting January 1st 2008

To all GNOME Foundation Members

The next board will serve for a period of 18 month starting January 1st
2008.

After the result of the membership vote regarding change to bylaws, the
present board has decided that the next board will serve for a period of
18 months.

The reason being that the board thinks, that it is a good thing that an
elected board has the possibility to meet in person right from the start
of their period of service during a GUADEC.

This means that those persons who will announce their candidacy to serve
on the next board will, if elected- start their service on January 1st
2008 and go on till 30 June 2009.

On behalf of the GNOME Board

Kind regards

Anne Østergaard
