Re: [Fwd: Happy Halloween from 5th toe the new version.]

Ok, screenshots are at http://seahorse.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html
and requirements are listed at
http://seahorse.sourceforge.net/download.html.
Besides gnome2, one needs gnupg 1.2 or later to use and gpgme 0.3.10 or
later if compiling.
Is that enough info?
Not every window or dialog has a screenshot since some are in a state of
flux.

Re: Happy Halloween from 5th toe the new version.

Hi:

I'd like to suggest that gok, the GNOME Onscreen Keyboard, be included
in fifth toe for 2.2 (provided that's still OK with the GOK team at the
University of Toronto). It was previously proposed that GOK and
gnopernicus (the integrated screenreader and magnifier from our BAUM
contributors) be included in the 2.2 desktop release, but timing is
probably not right for that. However I think that inclusion of GOK in
Fifth Toe makes a lot of sense, with a view towards maybe migrating it
into the desktop later on. GOK is, I believe, feature complete (at
least for a 1.0 version) and should be stable enough for 2.2's Fifth
Toe.

GOK makes it possible for people with serious mobility disorders (such
as Cerebral Palsy, paralysis, and neuromuscular problems of various
kinds) to use the GNOME desktop by means of switches and/or
head-pointers and other devices other than normal keyboards.

thanks,

Bill

Regarding GOK's candidacy for inclusion into 2.2's Fifth Toe, if we need
a tarball for the current release, perhaps someone at UT could prepare
it today (since I am still in China) ?

thanks

I thought I'd give this a shot.

I read through the gep and tried to implement a metatheme selector for
the control-center for 2.2. I really, really didn't want to go another
release without having some form of themeballs in GNOME, and am hoping
we can get a working solution out of this. I put two screenshots of my
attempt up at:

(the second shot admittedly needs a little love)

I'd like to see tcslient (a frontend for rdesktop) included in 5th toe,
I have just played a little with it but it's quite nice.

What do you think of adding gnomeradio? (http://mfcn.ilo.de/gnomeradio -
it's a fm tuner app).

Wow, looks way better than my RadioActive.

I'd like to second this on totally non-accessibility grounds. Tablet
PCs with touchscreens aren't *that* widespread now, but currently GNOME
doesn't serve those of us well who have them. An onscreen keyboard
would help a lot.

The other main utility that would help is an applet equivalent to
"xmonobut", a button-click remapper (touchscreen clicks are Button1
only). There's also xstroke (graffiti-like fullscreen handwriting
recognizer) but let's not get ahead of ourselves :)

I would guess that xmonobut would also be useful for accessibility
purposes.

Re: Happy Halloween from 5th toe the new version.

While on this topic....

I just want to bring to the attention of this list that
Carl Worth has developed a very nice stroke recognizer we
use on the iPAQ touch screens; implementes roughly Graffitti
with some enhancements.

I don't think it is a gtk app right now and therefore not a candidate
for Fifth toe, but this should be a simple exercise to the readers.

It does whole screen recognition, and does alphablending
of the stroke path using Render.

We certainly need such apps now that tablets are upon us,
even if xstroke (the version we use right now) might not
be usable as is for large tablets.

Source is in the handhelds.org cvs.

Bring it on. Lets get something in place then debate the details.
This looks close enough to something most people are willing to
accept.

And you chose define 'current theme' as the first thing where
everything matches ? This could cause problems if some accidentally
installs the same theme with multiple names. They select B and we
say 'ok thanks for selecting A'.

I'd very much like to see this go in.
