Multisync fails to connect: Permission denied error

Am using multisync under Mandriva 2010. Am trying to sync to a
Blackberry 8900
Set up is done, but get the following error when I try to sync
usb_open(0x9a4f860)
libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/017: Permission denied.
libusb requires write access to USB device nodes.
libusb-compat error: usb_open: could not open device, error -3
Member 1 of type barry-sync had an error while connecting: (Permission
denied): open failed
All clients have disconnected
The sync failed: Unable to connect one of the members

Don't understand why there should be an error for libusb in opening the
node.

Would appreciate any guidance anyone can give. Thanks.

multisync with google-calendar plugin

First: congratulations! this is a great tool!

Still, need some help.

I set up multisync to sync my Blackberry calendar with my goolgle
calendar. All events are synced fine except for the reminder, which is
essential in my life as I don't tend to open the calendar often enough
to see what I have to do in the next hour or so.

In essence, I need the reminders that I set in either calendar to be
synced as well. I did not find anything that would help me make this
work, hence my question here.

How can I get this to work?

Thx

synchronizing other than Evolution calendars

With the last version of multisync succeeded (after futile trials for
the last 4 years!) to synchronize my HP-IPAQ with my workstation running
Evolution for which my deepest thanks.
However, although I have used Evolution for at least the last 6 years
the recent versions are so buggy and unreliable that I switched to
Thunderbird as it now has a calendar/appointments plug-in.
I therefore want to synchronize this calendar with my IPAQ.
Which plugin do I have to use for multisync to do this?
Thanks in advance
Joep

MultiSync is not synchronising the data on my Bluetooth mobile phone with Evolution

MultiSync used to work when I wanted to synchronise the contacts data on my Sony Ericsson K850i with Evolution over a Bluetooth connection. Lately, however, it has stopped working. The status in the MultiSync window alternates between "Connecting to first client...", which is my phone, and "Searching for client...", at which point it briefly makes a connection with my phone. When I go to test the connection in the options dialog, I get the message "Connection failed."

Synching via USB (K530i)

Hello list,

as I read about someone beeing able to sync his Sony Ericsson K530i with
evolution using bluetooth, I thought I'd give it a go using my usb
cable.

Connecting the phone etc worked well, even using gammu/wammu is working
fine. I a normal message in the syslog, telling me the device is there:
Feb 27 04:27:07 lenore kernel: usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using
uhci_hcd and address 73
Feb 27 04:27:08 lenore kernel: usb 2-2: configuration #3 chosen from 1
choice
Feb 27 04:27:08 lenore kernel: cdc_acm 2-2:3.1: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
Feb 27 04:27:08 lenore kernel: cdc_acm 2-2:3.3: ttyACM1: USB ACM device
Feb 27 04:27:08 lenore kernel: usb0: register 'cdc_ether' at
usb-0000:00:1d.1-2, CDC Ethernet Device, 02:80:37:01:03:00

Unfortunatly multisync does not seem to work with ACM devices? Is this
correct? Trying to select cable and setting the device, I keep getting
"failed to connect local: connection error". Is there a way around this?

Thanks in advance for any help,
kind regards
Johannes Volkmann

quick update multisync question

What is the status of multisync? Is it active or has it become inactive?

I am trying to use it with Opie and cannot find a sync plugin.

Mutlisync core dumps when using Synce to sync with Evolution

Hi,

After a bit of mucking around I've got Synce/Raki working and can
browse, install on, etc, my WM5 mobile via USB on Kubuntu. Which is
great.

Spurred on by my success, I decided to try to Sync my WM5 calendar,
contacts, etc with Evolution.

Now I've hit a brick wall

I used the ubuntu repository version of Multisync (some other things
were compiled separately to get SVN versions as required for WM5 -
synce, rra, vdccm, odccm, synce-multisync-plugin and so on - they are
all working as expected). I'm pretty sure I haven't made some numpty
error by mixing repository libraries with source I've compiled myself.
Installation went fairly smoothly - no errors.

I can find a few other people with the same issue on google - but no
resolution or feedback.

Can anyone confirm that this is actually a known bug and I'm wasting my
time trying to sync using this method (there are other suggestions on
how to do this but they're a bit of saga!) OR that they have managed to
sync their WM5 successfully by installing synce, raki, and then
multisync and have some tips on how to do this?

The below output shows Multisync loading - the crash only occurs when
click the "Sync" button to sync my WM5 device with Evolution.

Some quick info about my system - no surprises here:
$uname -a
Linux my-computer 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 20:19:32 UTC 2007
i686 GNU/Linux
$ more /etc/issue
Ubuntu 7.04 \n \l

Cheers,

Phil.

Duplicates

Hi,

I installed multisync-gui in order to snyc my Nokia 6300 with Evolution. The plugins I am using are evo2-sync and gnokii-sync.

When I ran the sync process the first time, all went fine and my contacts from Evolution were copied to my Nokia's empty phone book. Now if I run the process a 2nd time I get duplicates in both Evolution and the Nokia 6300 phone book. The more I run it the more it duplicates.

How can I avoid duplication?

Also I don't understand what the 'Which entry do you want to use?' window is trying to tell me.

Thanks very much.
