Nokia 5800: works partially

Hi,

I've purchased a Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic, and would like to sync it with
Evolution through usb; I'm using Ubuntu 8.10.

It's worked only partially, as it stops before ending with no error, and
only a few contacts have been transferred to the phone.

I followed the directions at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NokiaEvolutionSyncing/Opensync

Any instructions on how to report in order to get help?

TIA ;)

international characters on T630

Hallo.

I have just tried to sync my Sony Ericsson T630 phonebook with
Evolution.

It has problems with detection of charset and possible Bug workarounds
seems to be insufficient.

Example of two items:
N;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:M=E1lkovi
N;CHARSET=UTF-7:rodi+AQ0-e

Problem description:

Items, which can be covered by ISO-8859-1 are encoded as
QUOTED-PRINTABLE ISO-8859-1 (probably for compatibility reasons) and
marked as "QUOTED-PRINTABLE:".

Items, which cannot be covered by ISO-8859-1 are encoded as UTF-7 and
marked as "UTF-7:".

If I will not check "Translate from character set" workaround,
QUOTED-PRINTABLE items will remain in ISO-8859-1 and are displayed
incorrectly.

If I check it in, I can use ISO-8859-1, then ISO-8859-1 items are
correct, but non ISO-8859-1 items are mangled (UTF-7).

If I use UTF-7, then ISO-8859-1 items are mangled.

Dir sync plugin

Hi all,

I have probably reinvented the wheel here, however I thought it may be
useful if I share the modifications I have made to the multisync backup
plugin.

My intention was to synchronise calenders/contacts/tasks on several
computers running evolution, laptop <-> desktop etc...
This modified version of the backup plugin stores the entries in exactly
the same way as before, however it can detect when new files are added
to the directory and when files are removed/modified (based upon the
modification time stamp).

This enables several computers to sync to the same directory either by
NFS or using software such as Unison to keep a local copy of the backup
directory in sync with remote copies.

I have been testing this for a day or two, and it appears to be working
flawlessly for contacts and calendars. The handling of task data seems
to be a little broken, however I believe this not to be a fault of this
plugin.

Since the backup directory no-longer contains the backup_entries file,
synchronising multiple backups is much simplified, and it enables many
people to share calendars/contacts/tasks using the file-system, or
whatever directory level synchronisation method is preferred.

All comments welcome!

Regards,

Problems synchro Palm/Syncml

Hello everybody !
I'm trying to sync Palm datas (calendar, adressbook, tasks) with datas of a
syncml server.
Thanks to backtrace files, i've seen that :
- connection & authentification to syncml are ok
- databases recuperation & association (pairs) are ok
- data reading is ok (data flow can be seen in shellTerm)

BUT

the sync process seems to be infinite : in fact, when all databases are
read, the remote process loops back to the first table and do the sync job
again ...and again ..to the infinite ...

Can you help me, any ideas ?

Sync with nokia?

Hello,

I've moved from Windows to Linux and would like to know which phones
(what features, technology... will work with Evolution). I did this
using outlook and Nokia's PC Sync. Obviously this is not available on
Linux. The phone is a Nokia 3120 but I expect I will have to get a new
one.

   Any information is appreciated.

Thank you,

John Najarian

I'd like to sync my calendar and contacts with
Evelution. I have a Nokia 3120, a Series 40 but think I
might have to get a 6800/6820 todo this. Will multisync
work with evolution? What features & functionality do
the phones require?

I am moving from windows to Linux. I have installed all
the programs I wish to, Eclipse, Tomcat, PostgreSQL....
however this is the stickler.

Thanks

Running Suse 10.0 OSS version.

First, multisync does not seem to recognize the synce
plugin I installed. It just doesn't show up at all in
the multisync list. I can browse my PocketPC (Dell Axim
X5) through Konqueror but I can' actually sync with
anything.

Second, when I launch multisync from a terminal, I get
the following error messages and a messed up display of
the multisync GUI. This is only a clip of the message,

MultiSync capabilities?

Hello everybody!

The documentation sucks. So my questions:

-Which algorithms does MultiSync use for syncing?
-Can I apply fancy filters? How?
-Can MultiSync join and split single records?

To clear some things up: I want to create a syncronisation framework
for phone contacts in phone devices and a computer. I divide these devices
in clases: dumb, less dumb and omnipotent. The comptuer is omnipotent and
stores everything. Dumb devices hold only a limited number of
one name <-> one phone number relations.

All my devices are unsupported by MultiSync so far (Euracom P4
stationary ISDN telephone, Nokia 3100, Siemens CX70).

What I want (and is MultiSync a good base fore that?):
-interactive joining of dumb records:
"John work", "John home", "John TIM" --> "John Wester", because e.g.
it's the only John I know, but better ask to be sure...
-automatic joining:
same as above, but e.g. there is no need to ask if we know the number
already on the omnipotent base system (computer)
-number conversions and recognition:
different local notations (91x xxx xxx) to international writing
(+34 91x xxx xxx) to local or device specific again (0034 91x xxx xxx)
--> all refer to the same contact, what the sync framework should know
-number deletion/change:
have a copy of what the device was knowing last time:
