I posted this on the Volity forums, but I'm impatient. So I found this: http://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/xiff/index.jsp It's a complete, well-tested XMPP library for Flash (more accurately, for ActionScript). Then, for those unaware, there's this: http://www.aflax.org/ That's an open-source (LGPL, same license as XIFF above) Flash applet that is basically just a well-appointed shell for ExternalInterface, and a matching JavaScript library. Meaning that you can fully script your Flash applet with no compiler, directly from JS. In short, the tools are finally at hand to make a Volity client that lives entirely in the browser. Well, okay, so there's the SVG problem, but if it's too much work to make a Java applet that encapsulates the Batik/Rhino portion of Gamut, there's always the option of HTML-based UIs... which, frankly, a lot of developers (including myself) would prefer. This needs doing. Who's rollin with me? -- -- ______________ Mike Sugarbaker Super Geiniuis(Continue reading)
