pioneers-server-console

Hello,
my friends and me like to play pioneers online.
Usually I start a pioneers-server-gtk on my local machine to enable
network-gaming. This works well, but I want to run
pioneers-server-console at my webserver now.
unfortunatly, I cant dig out, how to select one other than the default game.
I run pioneers-server-conole at a debian machine.
Thanks for your great game and help,
Thomas Klein-Hitpaß

You need to specify the --game-title (or -g) option as an argument. It
needs the title of the game you want to start. That's not the filename,
but the name which appears in the dropdown selection box in server-gtk.
It is also in the .game file as "title". Don't forget that the shell
will eat lots of things, so you usually need quotes around the title.
Also, the case of the letters must be correct. For example:

$ grep title /usr/share/games/pioneers/pond.game
title The Pond
$ pioneers-server-console --game-title 'The Pond'
12:17:01 - Preparing game #1194261421.G.258

Instead of the title, you can also specify the file. This way, it is
also possible to run self-created (or edited) games without installing
them:

$ pioneers-server-console --file my-pioneers-games/mygame.game
12:19:05 - Preparing game #1194261545.G.399

I hope this helps. If not, please ask.

Thanks,
Bas

Pioneers Developing/Community

Hello Everybody,
Many of my friends, including me (and yes, I am a friend of myself) have much fun playing pioneers.
Nearly every night we play several games with fluctuing people.
We think, pioneers is a great piece of softwarein playing "Die Siedler von Catan" but its not so great in comunicating with the other players.
For this reason we use a special jabber chatroom at siedler <at> conference.zweilicht.org. You all are welcome to join us there and managing games.
The "lobby" room is a good idea to help builiding and managing games, but its communication interface lacks comfort and fun, I think.
Is there a plan to integrate a better interface, or perhaps even to integrate jabber-functionality for this?
In addition to that, a community-website would be great, to register usernames and so on.

Thanks for your patience, and have fun!
Thomas Klein-Hitpaß from Münster, Germany
