Greetings, I recently found gnome mud. I'm running vinux 3.1 (modified ubuntu 10.10 to suite needs of visually inpaired people). I play some muds for example miriani. There are soundpacks for it but only for windows clients (VIP mud, monkeyterm etc). I can't find some decent help for gnome mud, mainly for it's triggering capabilities etc. Can some triggers run external commands? Or can gnome mud play sounds? Thank you very much, Vojta

I've been looking for a good MUD client for Gnome, but it seems that most of the projects have been dead for a long time.
I don't want to use a MUD client that has no hope of bug fixes.
I noticed the last post to the mailing list was last year and that the last release was also a long time ago.
Is this project dead?

Hi there my name is Robert Smith I am using johnty and orca. I am not a techey or a programer. the game i play does not have sound for it. but is there a way to use a sound pack from VIP-mud? vip-mud is the ownly sound pack for miriani. if so can some one please tell me how to add the sound pack. -- thank you for reading this e-mail rsmith

I am new here, but I've been an affectionate gnome-mud user for two years by now.
I apologize for my not perfect English and for my lack of a technical language, but I am Italian and although I am a mud manageress, I am not a programmer.
I am writing here because I have a problem with the setting of aliases in the 0.11.2 version, currently running on an Ubuntu 9.04, and that I hadn't with the older version 0.10.7 compiled on Gentoo.
I tried a Google search and I also tried to find something in this mailing list archive to solve my problem, but I could not succeed. I hope some of you could help me.
When in the older version (0.10.7) I set an alias and a replacement, the mud automatically runs the command I put in the replacement and allows me to add a further specification for that command during the game. I could, for instance, choose to type "fireball" to make a character execute the command "cast fireball" and specify the name of the victim in game.
A simple "fireball John" works perfectly (the mud code runs a "cast fireball John").
With the new version (0.11.2) the layout has changed. If I put in the regex my short name for the spell ("fireball") and in the action list the full command ("cast fireball") the character only casts the spell on himself and I cannot add the target during the game.
If I type "fireball John" it results in an unknown command.
I don't know if it's just me that can't make gnome-mud work properly or there's something wrong.
I may add that our mud is based on a Merc2 code and that the new triggers features run perfectly and are very useful.

It would appear to me that the standard behavior when receiving an <ESC>2K would be to not only clear the line but to reset the cursor position to the beginning of the line... otherwise things like idling on my mud result in the player status bar gradually moving to the right!
The simple telnet program included in Ubuntu 8.10 demonstrates the proper behavior, rogue spacing is never leftover, because the cursor position is reset.
I'm just having a hard time finding the place in the code that parses the ansi codes...
If someone could help me by submitting a quick patch to illustrate how I can make this change, I do like the client!
