hg on my counterpoint

Hello,

I am about to shutdown counterpoint.magnenat.net soon. There are two
virtualhosts linked to glob2:
     dev.globulation2.org
     hg.globulation2.org
Are they still used? I would like to avoid hosting services if
necessary, especially as there are third-party hg hosts.

kind regards,

Stéphane

hi

Hi friends,

I am very new to the gaming world. Been in IT for more than 15 years,
but never in to Games.
Also i am new to open source project.
I am mainly in to scripting languages, but got in to c++ about 6 months
back. C++ is amazing. It fits to my personality.
I was looking in to c++ good medium size open source project on Linux
and i found glob2.

Amazing game. It has most of the things i was looking for.
Exactly: No heavy graphics, strategy based, AI driven, no
micromanagement, c++ specific, OO driven, and Linux.

Just curious to know how active this project is from development point
of view.
also how much active glob2 on ysagoon server?
Even if it is abandoned, I can still learn a lot by browsing through the
code. It is bit harder without support.
either way, thanks to all the developers and other contributors who did
a fantastic work.

Foe those who want more info:
I want to develop stock market simulation, back testing engine, strategy
performance analysis, fully automated order entry management in C++ and
linux.
I have already every thing that I need is developed in non c++ and in
windows environment. It is fully functional. It is based on array
processing. Still extremely fast for retail trading.
But High frequency Trading wise, it is just not there. From software

Re: server down

As long as you don't need a dedicated IP address I can host this on my
server in Vancouver. Resources are not an issue, and it is already
closely monitored for spam/abuse.

server down

Hi

the glob2 website is down. some evil script was using the machine to spam and my
attempts to stop that were unsuccessful and i tried upgrading the box. the
upgrades broke the wiki and most likely also the forum. if anybody wants to take
over, i would be more than happy to hand over the db dumps and whatever data is
needed. With less and less people caring I also get less and less motivation to
keep this project alive. if glob2.org is not back and running in 7 days, mail me
as i only have 10 days backup to restore before the incidence.

Leo

What happened to the site?

I just noticed that globulation2.org is now parked. Anyone know what
happened to it?

core dumps

Hi

glob2 is killing my server again. i don't know why but again it floods my server
with core dumps.
I guess last time the "solution" was a fresh start aka dropping all the uploaded
maps.

i killed yog for now. little chance i will do anything about it soon as i did
not see much activity neither on the player nor on the developer side and my
motivation is close to zero. (yes, i will revive it soon but now i need sleep
and i'm pretty stressed with other projects.)

Re: glob2-devel Digest, Vol 102, Issue 4

As of campaigns/maps/story and stuff like that, I recommend to watch the job already done by the community, which is mostly laying undocumented and undiscovered by many on the forum.

Maps section:
http://globulation2.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=10&sid=2f2a35ae224029fccf95759f53dc472a

Good luck, if you need some creations (like maps) or art (like sprites), I'm ready to help. For coding I'm not patient and fluent enough ;)

Cheers, Zenfur

YOG hosting/diagnosis

Greetings all globules!

In response to Giszmo's report regarding YOG crashing:

I volunteer to diagnose the problem and also to begin hosting YOG on SATLUG.org.

Personally I use Ubuntu and have a 0.9.5.0 development snapshot so I am not
sure if the existing core would be compatible with my system.

As Stephane suggests -- checking it on the production system using gdb or ddd
may point out a simple environmental issue like disk quota/limits.

SATLUG is the San Antonio Texas Linux User's Group.  We have major Internet
backbone capacity and unlimited bandwidth.

I need to coordinate with others in the group for permission and access, but see no
potential roadblocks.

Let me diagnose the problem first.

Othniel

Urgent call for action

Hi all,

YOG is broken seriously and I had to permanently switch it off until somebody
fixes it.
I have no time to take care of it now. At least not much.

Actually glob2 seems to crash 10 times per minute producing 3MB of core dumps
each crash. Not only will I run out of any disc space in no time like that I
also assume that playing was not possible the past days.
I have core dumps if anybody wants to analyze.
I assume we could fire it up by just deleting the user and/or map db but I don't
know exactly how that would work.

Hope somebody is willing to take the task and actually I would prefere if
"somebody" would also take the hosting :/
