1.2.26 Release Candidate 1 Released

Hi all;
LedgerSMB 1.2.26 Release Candidate 1 has been released.  You can get it at at
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ledger-smb/files/Beta%20Releases/1.2.26-rc1/

This release corrects every is_zero error I was able to reproduce in
my environment, and that has been reported to me. Anyone having these
errors in 1.2.x is advised to try out the release candidate, and
upgrade to the production version as soon as it is available. These
errors constitute the only significant changes in this version.

For everyone else, feel free to test it and verify everything works.

Best Wishes,
Chris Travers

1.3.3 bunch of issues reported to the tracker

Hi,

I created a brand new test system to test 1.3.3.

Test system: debian testing + pgsql 9.1 + nginx + perl 5.12 + fresh 1.3.3 + us chart + general.sql + Hungary as country

I wrote a lot of issues to the Tracker, and I tried to create "batch" reports instead of creating tons of individual tickets. One package contains related issues, which can be found in a submenu/function. I hope it will be useful for you and forgive me this batch method :)

One thing, related to text encoding issues: I did not checked yet, but I assume, Hungary still contains ISO-8859-2 instead of UTF-8. I will check it and modify to UTF8 to see, this was a reason for some cases.

Anyway, this new system is bloody cool, congratulation!!!!!!!

Happy bug hunting :)

Cheers,

István

Ok. Sounds bold, and a good way to look for bugs.

Given the work that's been going into the is_zero errors on 1.2 this
week we may just go for the 1.3.4 some time next week and add more of
these bugs to the queue.

(no subject)

Hi Chris,

My 1.3.3 upgrade (from 1.3.0) ends with the following error:

psql:Files.sql:180: ERROR: cannot drop view file_order_links because
other objects depend on it
DETAIL: view file_links depends on view file_order_links
function file__list_links(integer,integer) depends on type file_links
HINT: Use DROP ... CASCADE to drop the dependent objects too.
psql:Files.sql:181: ERROR: cannot drop view file_tx_links because
other objects depend on it
DETAIL: view file_links depends on view file_tx_links
function file__list_links(integer,integer) depends on type file_links
HINT: Use DROP ... CASCADE to drop the dependent objects too.
psql:Files.sql:182: ERROR: cannot drop view file_links because other
objects depend on it
DETAIL: function file__list_links(integer,integer) depends on type file_links
HINT: Use DROP ... CASCADE to drop the dependent objects too.
DELETE 2

I used the reload_modules approach to this upgrade. I'm not sure other
users see this as well, but should we use DROP CASCADE in the
Files.sql file, or do I have incorrectly upgraded some intermediate
state of file attachment functionality?

Bye,

Erik.

Re: 1.3.2 -> 1.3.3 upgrade issue

Hi Chris,

Actually, I used the manual route, but through that route, the
database doesn't contain the right schema number (1.3.0 vs 1.3.3).
Should we extend the instructions in the UPGRADE document?

Bye,

Erik.

LedgerSMB 1.3.4 RC1 released

The LedgerSMB team is proud to release LedgerSMB 1.3.4. This is a
bugfix release which fixes a number of menu issues and number
formatting issues. If you are impacted by any of the bugs listed
below, or if you would like to help test the new version, please feel
free to try it, but since it has not yet been fully regression tested,
please put it through some testing at this point rather than putting
it directly into production.

This version includes some specific database fixes and therefore
requires that one runs the setup.pl against each database, as
documented in the UPGRADE file.

The menu items corrected are the ship and receive ones.

Best Wishes,
Chris Travers

Changelog for LedgerSMB 1.3.4
* Corrected case matching error in upgrade script (Chris T)
* Corrected version number on new databases (Chris T)
* Corrected multiple load errors on upgrade (David B)

* Corrected display issues with numbers (Herman V)
* Updated Ubuntu notes (Frans S)

LedgerSMB 1.3.4 released

Hi all;

This release corrects a number of localization bugs regarding number

changes, it does require running the setup.pl against each database.

Best Wishes,
Chris Travers

The complete changelog is:

* Corrected case matching error in upgrade script (Chris T)
* Corrected version number on new databases (Chris T)
* Corrected multiple load errors on upgrade (David B)
* Corrected problem creating UTF-8 database on Debian (David B)

form->action vs form->nextsub?

Hi,

This is probably all ancient history by now, but way back between 1.2.17 and 1.2.18 the following change was made to menu.pl:

if ( $form->{action} ) {
    # window title bar, user info
    $form->{titlebar} =
        "LedgerSMB "
      . $locale->text('Version')
      . " $form->{version} - $myconfig{name} - $myconfig{dbname}";

     &{ $form->{action} };
}

changed to:

if ( $form->{action} ) {

    # window title bar, user info
    $form->{titlebar} =
        "LedgerSMB "
      . $locale->text('Version')
      . " $form->{version} - $myconfig{name} - $myconfig{dbname}";

     if (substr($form->{action}, 0, 1) =~ /( |\.)/) {
       &{ $form->{nextsub} };
     } else {
       &{ $form->{action} };
     }
     #&{ $form->{action} };

}

Can anyone tell me what the difference between form action and form nextsub is supposed to be, and why there are two variables for what appears to be the same purpose?  It came to my attention because the assembly page Parts buttons broke in this version due to this change, and we were forced to revert the file back to the earlier method.  I assume this problem has been fixed in lsmb 1.2.x by now, we're still running on .18 at the moment (sorry!) but will be upgrading soon.

Cheers,
Chris Calef

Code for populating database

I'm sure someone has faced the problem of loading a brand new installation
with existing data. Is there some sample code somewhere which shows how it's
done? Particularly customer/AR data...

The code in doc/samples seems to be a bit old and I'm not sure how relevant
it is now.

Thanks in advance

Re: form->action vs form->nextsub?

Hi

nextsub is used to override action in certain cases in the old code.
There is no significant difference between the two. I will have to
dig up who made the change and why.

Chris Travers
