.AFS file

I've stumbled onto a .AFS file and was wondering
if it is in any way related to Andrew File System.

The first 3 bytes of this 500 meg file are "AFS" and
the end of the file seems to list many filepaths,
which I assume are inside this container file...

Is this related to Andrew File System? If so, how
can I access the files inside this container file?

In the process of producing a 0.36 release some time in the future,
there is a new snapshot available. The usual caution signs for using
prerelease software apply. I have tested this stuff under Linux with
stock 2.4.12 and 2.4.18 kernels in SuSE and RH build environments. I
have not tested with the kernels supplied with the distributions. If
you test this under your favourite OS, please let the arla drinkers
know any success or crash stories.

file:///afs/stacken.kth.se/ftp/pub/arla/snap/arla-0.36pre3.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.stacken.kth.se/pub/arla/snap/arla-0.36pre3.tar.gz

Hint: My configure command line looks like:

../arla/configure --with-sys=/usr/src/linux-2.4.18 --with-krb4=/usr/athena-1.2.1
--without-krb5 --without-ipv6

Harald.

where can I get some Solaris kernel dev files?

Best regards.

Re: error installing under Linux

I did it. After simply

./configure (without any option)
make
make install
/usr/arla/sbin/startarla

Now I have read access - still need to install kerberos - to the
afs world. I have SuSE 8.0 (Linux 2.4.18-4GB), and dynamic IP
address from my ADSL provider (pppoe protocol).
I will do the same with my office PC too.

Thanks,
Pal

Re: Re[UNSUBSCRIBE DEVDRVR <at> DAVIS.COM PLEASE]: arla-commit

Yes I lost the instructions and my pleas for help went ignored for months
until I started doing this. Now I'm off the list. Sorry for the
unnecessary emails. Thanks.
