Its just an example, this is not a leak in the library only the example.

Attachments aren't forwarded by the RT version we use. You have to

But quite a few people will believe the example show them the *correct*
way to use the library, so it's a good idea to remove such errors there.

ECDSA - serializing EC public key into a DER encoded stream

Hi!

I'd like to serialize a EC public key into a DER encoded stream. I've tried
the function i2d_PublicKey with the EVP_PKEY structure. I get the resulting
length but nothing is copied to my destination buffer.
The i2d_PrivateKey function although works fine. I get the resulting length
and data is copied to my destination buffer.

Are there any known issues with that function?

Another question is why the ec.h only provides a i2d_ECPrivateKey and no
similar function for the public key.

Thereby I'm using openssl 0.9.8a.

Thanks & best regards,

lonestar

Try i2d_PUBKEY() instead.

[openssl.org #1357] Self signed CA issue in version 0.9.8a-16

Self Signed CA certificate in version 0.9.8a-16 is missing "Locality
Name" which causing Microsoft Windows to reject CA.

[Fwd: [openssl.org #1357] Self signed CA issue in version 0.9.8a-16]

I've been seeing all sorts of CA-related glitches. Basically
when they (you) started tweaking things for the OpenCA project
the CA.pl and related 'tools' (I mean the term generously) they
started to get weird. I think the default openssl.cnf
has also got issues for non-selfsigned certs.

Yeah, that's not a precise comment. But I've been encouraged
to mention it onlist...

Linking files in OpenSSL

Hello,

I am very new to OpenSSL. I wanted to conduct experiments to compare the performance of the RSA public key algorithm with ECC using OpenSSL. I wrote a code for calculating the time taken for rsa encryption and decryption but for some reason I have'nt been able to link the code. It cannot find the <openssl/evp.h>,<openssl/rand.h>,<openssl/rsa.h> libraries. Could I refer to a mannual which can help me with compiling and executing source codes in OpenSSL. I beleive I can do a similar experiment using shell scripts. Is there a help that I can refer to for all these topics. I would appreciate if somebody could help me.

Thank you.

Regards,
Vibha

Re: Linking files in OpenSSL

OpenSSL is a sophisticad library requiring advanced
knowledge of cryptography.

If you only have a passing interest please don't
disturb the list members.

Even if we try to help you it will not help you since
we would not know where to start.

Hope you understand. It will be better if you get in
touch with a local expert.

regards,
Girish
