Monthly posting of the guidelines for participation in the LINUX5250

Answers to common questions, including installation issues for FreeBSD,
Linux and Windows are included in the documentation in the README file
in the source tarball, the manual included with the Windows installer,

Italian mapping Fx x>=13

Good morning,
we used for more than 7 years tn5250 (version 0.16.5-1), with Italian
keyboard, on an old RedHat7.3 without any problems.
Now we moved to CentOS5.5 and with its default tn5250 installation
(version 0.17.3-6) we are not able anymore to send F>12 (I mean keys
from F13 to F23).
We tried with calling
loadkeys -d
before tn5250
or with
tn5250 +underscores env.TERM=IBM-3477-FC hostname
but it still doesn't work.
We've already looked at the us map file and read the tn5250-HOWTO.pdf
(we didn't create our own map yet).
It's odd that with a minor release change (from 0.16 to 0.17) tn5250
behaves so differently and probably we are missing something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

PC Organizer Function

We have an application that uses the strpco/strpccmd functions. It does
not work with tn5250 in Windows ver. 0.17.4. I checked the archives and
looked in the source and found the display_check_pccmd in display.c is
present.

Can anyone tell me if they have it working in Windows and what I might
have to do to get it to work.

thanks,

Ralph

Re: PC Organizer Function

Do you have +allow_strpccmd in your configuration?
(Otherwise, tn5250 will ignore STRPCCMD.)

Re: Italian mapping Fx x>=13

This is almost certainly your CentOS terminal type and/or keyboard
configuration. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with CentOS (in fact,
this is the first time I've heard of it!), and have no idea how to
change it's behavior.

Who knows... I might ask to the CentOS maintainer.

x5250 debian package

Hello there,

Has anyone worked on or is working on a debian/ubuntu package for x5250?

We are doing a deployment across the country and instead of each server
having all the library headers and compiler tools installed, it would just
be cleaner to install a .deb package for update management, etc.

If not we'll work with it for now.

Thanks!

Re: x5250 debian package

Yes it does, sorry I was referring to the x5250 project (homepage:
http://www.chowhouse.com/~james/x5250/)

tn5250 is not a problem.
