Status of AIX with Pearpc

Hello,

Can someone give me some feedback about the development of AIX
emulation with Pearpc?

Thank you.
Cheers

Network Windows 2003 Server w/ ISA2K4

Has anyone successfully gotten PearPC to work with this setup:

Windows 2003 Server w/ MS ISA 2004
- Nic #1 = Internet
- Nic #2 = LAN
- Nic #3 = OpenVPN NIC (emu nic)

Added the Connection for PearPC and set that up...
Nothing shows any errors (connection established with Emu Nic)

PearPC IP = 192.168.10.4
Emu Nic IP = 192.168.10.5

Neither can ping each other... is there something else I need to do?

I know I have an odd setup as well since ISA 2004 is my
Proxy/Firewall/Router

Thanks,
Adam Southerland

Installing Made-for-Mac software

Will PearPC allow me to install Mac programs (such as Keynote 2) without
installing OS X?

No. PearPC only emulates the hardware of a Mac. On this hardware you can
install several different operating systems: Darwin, Mac OS X, Linux, etc.

In order to run Mac OS programs, you will first need to install the Mac
OS itself.

Re: Installing Made-for-Mac software

If PearPC doesn;t, is there an emulator that does? For instance WINE allows you to run Winows programs on
Linux. Is there one that allows you to run Mac programs on Windows without installing the Mac Operating
System?

Re: Pearpc-users digest, Vol 1 #171 - 1 msg

Hello,

Go to, www.osx86project.org and i think you will get some points of using
Mac OS X Applications on your current PC. And I wish please don't ask more
about this case to this mailing list. PearPC is the great PowerPC emulator
for x86 and your questions like dishornoring PearPC. Go somewhere else.
There's absolutely no solution related with PearPC for you.

Regards,
VOX

I wouldn't mind that either

I've never heard of such an emulator/program that lets you run Mac software on Windows without installing the whole-blown thing, though I've fantasized about it in the past.

Have you done searches on the web for this yet?

Such a thing does not yet exist. Currently, there are several ways to
run Mac OS X programs on Windows:
   - port them to Windows
   - run Mac OS X Intel in VMWare (patches are available to enable this)
   - run Mac OS X PowerPC in PearPC
These options are roughly in order of the speed you will get, best to worst.

If you have Mac OS X Intel version running in VMWare, Apple's Rosetta
emulator will allow PPC programs to run.

The SoftPear project aims to do something similar to what you are
talking about, but they are in a very early stage of development, and do
not have anything that runs on Windows yet.

It is rumored that Apple is working on a compatibility layer, codenamed
"Yellow Box", which will allow Cocoa apps to run on top of Windows as a
compliment to OS X for Intel. There has also been limited success
getting Cocoa apps running natively on PPC Linux or Darwin with
OpenStep, which is much more similar to the OS X environment.

Re: I wouldn't mind that either

I highly discourage the use of the cracked Intel OS X ISO, it's
piracy, is illegal, and I am surprised that it's tolerated on this
list, shame on you! Pirating OS X may cause Apple to go the route of
Micro$oft (activation, increased prices, etc) and I for one definetly
wouldn't want that to happen.
