missing board minutes

Hello,

there are two sets of board minutes missing:

- 2013-02-20 => Andreas
- 2013-04-03 => Olivier

I know Olivier is busy at the moment, but if both of you could send them
in until the next call in two weeks, that'd be great.

Thanks,
Florian

dialling in via Google Hangouts

Hello,

those of you who have issues with the phone line, here's another
approach that seems to work fairly well - dialling in to the confcall
via Google Hangouts:

request for vacation

Dear board,

next week, I'd like to attend LinuxTag in Berlin, and therefore would
like to file a request for vacation for four days: from Tuesday, May
21st to Friday, May 24th.

There are two more events in the future I'd like to attend where I also
plan to file a request for vacation, as soon as I know the exact travel
dates.

One is the LibreOffice Conference, where I estimatedly plan to be from
Monday, September 23rd to Friday, September 27th.

The other event is CONSEGI in Brazil, where I estimatedly plan to be
from Monday, August 12th, to Friday, August 16th. Note that August 15th
is a public holiday.

For the latter two events, I will file my concrete request in time when
I have the exact travel dates, but for LinuxTag, if there are no
objections, I'd like to ask Thorsten to file that accordingly with the
payroll provider.

Thank you very much,
Florian

Board Strategy Meeting

Hello,

TDF is developing rapidly, so are the challenges we have to face, the
decisions we have to make, and the strategy we have to develop. In
addition, we intend to run the board elections this fall, approximately
shortly after LibOCon, to give the new board enough time to learn until
the official duty hand-over in February 2014.

Given that several board members already proposed to meet dedicatedly
for strategy, I would like to propose hosting a

	Board Strategy Meeting

this summer. The intend is to have as many board members as possible -
ideally everyone - at the same physical location, dedicatedly talking
about strategy and future planning.

There is a variety of topics on the table, and I think having a real
life meeting is much better than any sort of virtual meeting. Having
this meeting next to the LibreOffice Conference doesn't sound wise to
me, as we all know how busy these days usually are.

Before I send out a Doodle from June to September, I'd like to hear your
availability options. ;-) It might make sense to host the event at a
central location, during a weekend, so many people can participate.

Can all board members give me feedback on when is best (or when it
doesn't work out at all), so I can send out a Doodle poll soon?

Thanks,

Fostering project internal communication

Hello,

sorry for spamming all the lists, but in the light of recent events and
discussions, I'd like to make all of you aware of an important mailing
list, that so far has not been used as extensively as it should be,
which led to some frustration and communication issues.

As part of our mission to foster the project internal communication, I'd
like to tell you about our so called projects mailing list, which Sophie
initiated quite a while ago, and which should be used for communication
amongst the various projects - e.g. design and marketing, development
and marketing, UX and development, and the like.

The list's intention is not to be a gossip list where everything should
be thrown at, but to make all affected projects aware of important
changes. Philosophy: Low traffic, but important topics.

Some examples are: Change of version numbers, a new slogan, design
changes, new products. In other words: Everything that has an impact on
other areas of working than the one where the change originally comes from.

If one team decides LibreOffice will now be called different, and has a
shiny new colour, surely marketing should know in time. Well, a bit of a
made up example, but you get the point... ;-)

We have seen some unpleasant events in the past, that based on my
experience, are mostly due to the lack of communication, or due to
miscommunication. To avoid that in the future, I'd like to call out to
everyone of you, if you are active in one of the subprojects, to also
join this mailing list by sending an empty e-mail to

Seeking for list moderators

Hello,

at the moment, we are looking for volunteers who could help moderate
this mailing list.

If you are interested, the only requirement is that you are subscribed
to the list yourself and read its mails in a somehow timely manner, but
that's about it.

Moderation means dealing with e-mails that do not automatically make it
to the list, which you then manually forward, or reject. This happens
either when an e-mail comes from an unknown sender, e.g. when a project
member uses a different address for posting. It also occurs when someone
unexperienced writes to the list, thinking it's a private account, but
in fact it's a public list.

You'll receive the message to be moderated via e-mail, which you then
can either "moderate through", or reject.

Is someone interested in joining our efforts? It'd be much appreciated -
just drop me an email (please also copy me directly, and not only the
list), then I'm happy to add you to the list of moderators.

Thanks!
Florian

Signing for booth at OSCON

Our application for a booth in the Non-Profit Pavilion at OSCON has
been approved. (Dates: July 23-25 for the booth; OSCON is July 22-26.
Portland, Oregon, USA.) There is no cost to us for the booth.

Who should sign the contract with O'Reilly on behalf of TDF? I am
happy to do it if the Board authorises me to do so. The contract needs
to be signed (online) by May 15 to confirm our space.

I can provide a link to the contract to any Board member who wishes to read it.

Regards, Jean

CANCELLING tomorrow's board meeting

Hello,

as tomorrow is a public holiday in several countries, and I have heard
no objections so far to my proposal of postponing the meeting, we will
therefore NOT meet tomorrow, and skip the call.

The next board meeting will take place on May 15th.

Florian
