Users support via Twitter

Hello everyone,

The Document Foundation offers several types of community support
channels for LibreOffice. One of the main ones is the users support
mailing lists, but there are of course others, such as the Ask
LibreOffice website and other tools. One experimental tool we have been
using since the beginning of the year is a Twitter account dedicated to
LibreOffice support, <at> libreofficehelp . It answered to quite a lot of
help requests, and is well followed. However, only one volunteer (Jay
Philipps) is behind this account and he cannot man the account
constantly.

This is why we'd like to invite volunteers here who may be interested in
using this account to provide users support. Obviously, it's different
from being on a mailing list, but it's a very interesting and rewarding
experience as well. If you're interested, shout here on the mailing
list(s) or send me a private message.

Thank you,

Charles.

minutes of ESC call ...

* Present:
+ David, Sophie, Bjoern, Kendy, Miklos, Michael M, Christian, Stephan, Robinson,
Lionel, Thorsten, Caolan, Jacobo, Michael S, Cedric, Muthu

* Completed Action Items:
+ send Christian pictures of in-person ESC meetings for report (All)
[ expired -> last chance ... no pretty pictures still ]
+ post a list of functions we'd like to rename to the dev list (Kendy/All)
[ sent a list, not read all the reactions yet; not much opposition yet
ask to delay until after 5.0 branch-off (Thorsten)
+ previously delayed until ~pre-branch to avoid cherry-pick hassle (Kendy)
+ would like to push it even further out (Thorsten)
+ disruptive to people with larger pending branches
+ never a good time for this (Kendy)
+ delayed until 4.3.4 in the past
+ postponing for a year, so another 3x months not huge
+ if done, done before branch-off (Bjoern)
                     + best-point, right before branch-off
                     + is it script-able ?
+ not yet; just today, collected most-annoying things.
+ concern: churn before feature-freeze (Thorsten)
+ run the script - right before the branch-off -> is ok.
AI: + create a script - and ensure the result after running builds (Kendy)
AI: + run that just before branching (Cloph)
+ FWIW if there is a script, it also helps with rebasing/cherrypicking
            + 1x objection - SwFrm (Bjoern)
+ already have sw::Frame vs. SwFrm, would prefer namespace
+ do all other stuff, but not SwFrm.
+ namespace harder for scripts (Michael)
+ clang plug in - fix, but doesn't do comments (Miklos)

conference kit

Hello,

one of the projects that's been around for a while is the production of
a marketing/conference kit.

For the US, Robinson has collected that (thanks so much for that!), see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing/US/Box

For Europe, Sophie is looking into getting such a box produced. However,
the feedback so far is that there is no real need for a box to ship
around. Rather, people have their hardware locally and we can produce
swag/collaterals when required, which is considered easier than sending
around a box in Europe.

I understand that, as I also have a box from the German community here,
and shipping around never worked out so well for me either. :-)

Before we close this ticket, I wanted to reach out to the community
again to hear if there is any need and what your thoughts are. The basic
idea behind this budget item is to make organization of local events
easier, but I appreciate the shipping and transportation problem.

Let me know what you think - thanks!

Florian
